Drywall Tools
Finish drywall smoothly and efficiently using Northern Tool's selection of Marshalltown drywall tools. From putty knives to mudding sprayers, DIYers and professionals alike will find something to love among this collection of drywall equipment. If you are a beginner preparing to complete your first drywall installation, be sure to review the function of each essential drywall tool to ensure you have everything needed for a great result.
Drywall knives, also called putty knives or scrapers, are used to apply and spread mud over seams between drywall panels. Northern's selection includes plastic and metal drywall knives in a variety of sizes to accommodate the size and shape of the space being worked on. Rigid putty knives are ideal for applying initial mud coats, while wider and more flexible taping knives should be used for smoothing mud to produce a fine finish. Drywall knives are used in conjunction with mud pans which contain and carry excess mud as contractors work to coat seams. Corner knives are constructed of the same material as other putty knives but make the job of mudding corners faster and easier with their 90° angle blade.
Keyhole saws, also known as jab saws or drywall utility saws, look like a serrated kitchen knife. Most are 6-8 inches in length and are used to carve small shapes out of drywall panels for electrical outlets and light switches. Drywall circle cutters operate like a protractor and allow users to cut circular holes of varying sizes into drywall for light fixtures.
Mixers, such as the Marshalltown Eggbeater Mixer, can be used to prepare and soften drywall mud for smoot application. If a textured finish is desired, mud texture sprayers are available to cover a large area in little time.
Sanding the drywall is the last step once all seems and gaps are mudded and taped. Sheets of drywall sandpaper are available in varying sizes. Sanding blocks can also be used to prepare drywall for paint, tyle, or other finishes. For more extensive drywall installation projects, consider a drywall lift for increased efficiency and enhanced safety.
