Drywall knives, also called putty knives or scrapers, are used to apply and spread mud over seams between drywall panels. Northern's selection includes plastic and metal drywall knives in a variety of sizes to accommodate the size and shape of the space being worked on. Rigid putty knives are ideal for applying initial mud coats, while wider and more flexible taping knives should be used for smoothing mud to produce a fine finish. Keyhole saws, also known as jab saws or drywall utility saws, look like a serrated kitchen knife.
