This Vogelzang 54,000 BTU Cast Iron Boxwood Stove has fully sealed joints to burn wood safely and efficiently, supplying heat into any room. Swing-away top makes refueling easy. Two lift-out lids facilitate fry pan and tea kettle. Slide-out ash plate makes cleaning easy and also acts as draft control. Cool-touch spring handle and lid lifter included. Uses a 6in. flue.

Answers

The air is adjusted through the draft damper and slide draft control. The more closed the slide draft is set, the lower and slower the fire will burn. The more open, the faster and hotter the fire will burn.

It is radiant heat from the hot metal of the stove, along with radiant heat from the single wall portion of the vent pipe. Adding a Magic Heat to the vent, and a fan behind the stove helps a bunch.

This stove should be installed according to local codes and the product manual that is located on the bottom of the product page in .pdf format. The typical installation of this stove would rout the chimney through the wall or the ceiling. In any case it is important to use an approved installation kit, stove pipe and chimney. If I were to put this stove in a corner and I install a stone wall behind and aside of the stove may I put it closer to the wall? I have a very small cabin and every inch counts when it comes to space. My cabin is 16 x 36.

Wood burning stoves should not be place within an existing fireplace. The stove has to be vented to the chimney spark arrestor.

If you are speaking of the 6" pipe that exhausts the stove, mine goes strait up through the roof. It is single wall black pipe until it nears the ceiling. From there it goes through the roof as an insulated, stainless steel, triple wall pipe. This continues trough the ceiling to a height a few inches taller than the peak of my roof. A vent/weather cap is fixed to the top the pipe.

Junk I would not recomend this stove. Typically you get what you pay for but you do not with this. Hard to light, eats wood and puts out minimal heat. Has air leaks. I liked its looks thought it looked like it would be a good buy. Wrong! December 31, 2014

Vogelzang 96,000 BTU Boxwood Stove The woodstove arrived packaged in a wood crate. After taking off the crate and box, which was in good condition, I saw that the stove had been severely damaged. The front of the stove was bent away from the side, and the rear top portion was broken and pieces were in the plastic wrapping. The stove was obviously packaged in unserviceable condition, as the box and crate were not damaged in shipping! Not pleased to say the least!! October 24, 2014

Trusty Rusty.... I have had this stove in a remote Alaska log cabin for almost 20 years. It gets used about 10 days each year. The cabin is 350 square feet, drafty and often subzero when we arrive in the winter. The first order of business is to fire up the stove with seasoned spruce. The air is warmed in short order and after several hours, the walls and floor come up to a comfortable temperature. This stove gets abused: Overheated to glowing red, beach-gathered coal burned in it overnight, no firebricks or sand on the bottom – just a thick layer of dense coal ash. Is not pretty to look at with its various colors of rust, but after nearly 20 years, it still heats well and is very controllable. I am building a new cabin about the same size and am considering purchasing a new one just like ol’ “trusty rusty”. September 30, 2014

Hot stove Great stove for the hunting shack! Keeps the shack warm on cold days n nights. Burns for a good 5 hours after figuring out the right setting for dampers to burn longer. Shipping was no problem either arrived on time. September 7, 2014

Vogelzang Boxwood Stove 26e Bought and installed this stove to replace an old wood cook stove in our camp kitchen. I am amazed at how much heat the stove puts off. The dogs love laying by it after they come in from being out in the snow and the cold this winter. I did get the Vogelzang grate and 2 fire bricks to put in the bottom of the stove. We have been burning maple and yellow birch this winter. we load it up at night and routinely have enough coals left after 7 sometimes 8 hours to add a few small pieces and the fire is going again and producing heat. This stove keeps the wood floors in the kitchen much warmer too. April 10, 2014

bunk house stove Installed this stove in hunting camp bunkhouse, in georgia mts.,has kept us very comfortable at 25 deg. had stove shipped to w/40 miles of camp and it was ready for pickup on arrival. this stove is a great value,easy to install and puts out heat. it needs to be fed about every 3 to 4 hrs,only down side of getting up at night.
