AMK Manufacturing Rolling Magnetic Sweeper - 32in. Magnet Length
I bought this for cleanup after the demolition of a big old barn. No bells or whistles on this tool. Just 32" of powerful magnet with small wheels. By pulling the magnet behind me, I am able to go over rough and rocky ground. It is easy to slide nails off the magnet. I've picked up 3 gallons of nails and I'm not done yet. The tool is holding up well.

Best Bang For Buck Sweeper
Great little tool to have around the home and job site. I use it for my construction and AC company and we've already used it to pick up enough metal, nails and junk to fill a five gallon bucket in under a week.
Best cost, in my opinion compared to what you get. I wanted a simple design that could withstand lots of use/abuse by many people. Also wanted to be able to repair it when needed. No fancy dump mechanisms or too many cheap parts whose only function is bling and aesthetics.
Easy to put together. You only need a small adjustable wrench and about two minutes. No instructions necessary as it's very obvious how it goes together. It's practically impossible to put together wrong.
Good material. All metal handles isn't going to break even under abuse from uncaring employees racing around the job site with it. The end piece that h attaches to the top of the bar is welded. Each wheel has a large nylon nut to keep it from backing out. That's it! Two screws to secure the handle to the bar magnet and the nuts to hold on the wheels.
Simple design with no frills. The wheels are standard off-the-shelf push mower type. Handle is one piece with no weird release mechanism attached to it. All metal.
Strong magnet. I don't ever trust a manufacturers claim on magnet strength. They're all over exaggerated. This magnet will pull nails from sandy/loam soil that have been embedded in the soil a good 1/4". Any metal on the surface is pulled up quickly with a satisfying "clink" heard. Running the it over rough terrain like tall grass, rocks and roots doesn't knock off what was previously picked up (if it does get knocked off it pics it right back up on the back edge as long as you aren't pushing it faster than a normal walk). It doesn't take a lot of effort to clean the magnet. My four and six year old often use it to help clean up at the end of the day and they don't have a hard time picking off the metal bits and nails.
There isn't an "automatic" dump or release feature on this magnet, nor did I want one. I've never had one that lasted more than a week. The magnet won't "stand up" on it's own and it's easy to get careless and leave the handle laying on the ground where it can get stepped on. My handle is already bent from being run over by a four wheeler but the slight bend in the middle actually helps keep the magnet level with the ground while pushing it. :)
The studs/bolts that hold the wheels on are attached inside the aluminum housing that contains the bar magnet. So far there hasn't been an issue but we take the wheels off regularly to swap out taller wheels depending on the terrain we're sweeping. The studs have a loose fit with some slop felt while attached the wheels. So far so good. Even if we strip out a stud it would be easy to repair.
We've had this tool for about a month now and it gets used/abused daily by everyone from my small children to burly AC guys and construction crews. I own three of this model and a couple others that "looked good on paper". This is the only one I'll buy again. Simple enough to get the job done and easy enough to repair if/when needed. Everything seems over priced nowadays but relatively speaking, this is the best bang for the buck for my and my crew.

Really big and strong! This magnet is a must for your yard! I borrowed my neighbors regular size sweeper and then when I received this model I went back over the yard (just put up new siding) and picked up enough nails, screws, etc to fill a large coffee can. It does cost a bit, but I'm not to worried about getting flat tires.

an excellent product
Don't waste your money on the $30 big box store magnet sweepers, this one actually WORKS.
I had a roof put on my house this fall, and I was able to help the roofers-from the ground, anyway.
Although we were careful, I was surprised by the amount of nails left in the grass.
It wouldn't take too many flat tires on the mower to wish I'd have bought one of these sweepers.
It picked up LOTS of nails out of the grass.
Most of them were ones missed by the $30 magnet bought at the big box store.
I highly recommend this product.
Every time you hear the "click" of a roofing nail picked up, that's one less that'll have a chance of going into a tire, or worse yet, a foot.
Five stars and two thumbs way up for this sweeper.

This is a powerful magnet. We have a scrap yard and machine shop. I had no idea how much was in our driveway until we started using this product. When you think you've picked it all up, you go over it again and it's hard to believe how much more is on the magnet. Need to purchase more so we can have the kids clean up the yard!

Get it now, or a bigger one later
Just got the thing yesterday and I already found 1 missing tool, 2 small auto parts, and dozens and dozens of nails, screws, etc all in about 15 minutes. If you do any construction or back-yard auto repair or often have small metal things vanish in the grass, get one NOW. I thought about getting one of these a while ago and I wish I had gotten it then. There are probably more things deep down in the lawn and dirt that a humongus version of this might get now, and if I had this one back then- no problem. I think the only reason I find myself thinking I should have gotten the big one is that I waited to get this one. And made in USA! Woot! I'm going to keep this thing handy.
