Outstanding pump,

"I needed a pump to siphon water from an underground irrigation system on an 80 acre hay field. The slope of the land caused the water to drain to the bottom and unless all the water was removed, the system would have frozen and been damaged. I tried a couple of different pumps and after two weeks of experimenting, I finally came upon the Wayne Portable Pump. The pump worked great and within a couple of hours, I had the entire system drained."

"For pumping pool it's sufficient - Convenient handle - Easy set up - As mentioned in other reviews do not expect rated output - I measured output and got 10 GPM = 600 GPH not the 1250 GPH as advertized. However, as compared to other pumps on the market it seems to be a good buy."

Powerful Pump,

"I originally purchased a smaller pump that delivered 740 GPH to transfer water from a 1250 gallon portable tank into a 5000 gallon storage tank that is above ground at my cabin in the mountains. The inlet to this storage tank is about 10 feet above ground. The smaller pump worked ok but the brass impeller would seeze up after each use, I would then have to dissasemble it every time I used it and it took over two hours to empty my portable tank. This Wayne pump was just the ticket, it is light weight and empties the portable tank in about 40 minutes, it's quiet and does not get hot. I had looked at some of the larger pumps but if you are trying to move a large volume of water in a short period of time this is the pump to purchase and the price is right. I've never been mislead by any equipment purchase from Northern and have never returned any items, they tell it like it is."

Good, but not great pump.,

"This is a good pump, but the product specifications are under absolute optimum conditions and you are unlikely to achieve them in normal use.

The pump is difficult to prime when the suction, (lift) is 10-feet or more when connected to 100-feet of output garden hose. Once primed, the pump works fine.

This pump will power one rain-bird type oscillating sprinkler on 100-feet of garden hose, but not two.

The flow rate of this pump with a 10-foot suction, (lift), and 100-feet of output garden hose is approximately 500gph, not the 1,450gph claimed in the product specification.

One final note; since the pump is cast iron it will rust between uses. This has not been a problem for me and I use this pump a couple of times a month.

Overall this is a good inexpensive pump, just don't expect it to meet the product specifications."

Wayne Water Pump Does Good Job,

"I bought this Wayne water pump to enable me to pump excess water from a sump in my basement or a dry well that wasn't working properly. It came complete with a cord attached, rubber feet, a cap to close off the pump after adding water for priming and a strainer for the suction line. It worked well on the first try and thereafter with a short piece of garden hose on the suction end and a garden hose to pump the water out of the basement. It was able to pump the water out of the basement with a rise of about 10 feet. It makes some noise while functioning but ran smoothly several times over several days."

"I purchased this pump to water newly planted trees. I haul the water in a 275 gallon container on my pick up truck. I power the pump with a small generator. This pump will pump water through a 150 hose just fine downhill and has a surprising lift uphill. This pump is a work horse and well worth the money!"

"We have a small farm and this pump is very convenient to own and operate. It's solidly made, very portable and works like a champ. We use it in our greenhouse to move water out of 55 gallon tanks. For such a small pump it really moves a lot of water fast, WOW! Remember to keep it primed."

Needs a switch,

"Great pump. I use it to transfer water from rain barrels located around my property at different outbuildings. I did build a plywood base with 2x2 skids underneath to get the pump off the ground and I also jigsawed a handhold to make it easier to pick up and move around. The only real complaint I have is that it has no on/off switch. It would seem to be a no brainer to put an inline switch on the cord. Couldn't raise the price by much and I would have gladly paid the extra for the switch. I will probably put my own in but it would have been nice to have a factory installed job. Other than that I am well pleased with the performance and quality."

Close, but not perfect,

"Develops serious pressure with a decent flow rate. Using it to water garden from a reservoir with a 5/8 inch hose, makes short work of the task.

The one knock I would level is it's not tolerant of outdoor conditions, so keep it protected. The motor is vented on the bottom of the case; a perfect entry point for water, bugs, and dirt. This pump would be complete if manufactured to be weather resistant."
