Details:

If I have a 2 inch fire hose and close the valve does the pump need to be shut down immediately? Is there a minimum bypass needed?

Good Pump We used this to water it was great. Good pressure for watering. We had to add a bigger fuel tank so it run over nite. October 8, 2012

Pacer Pump This is a good pump, easy to start & prime & it is light weight enough to pack around. The only problem I had with it was after I owned it for about 5 years, only using it occasionally, the seal between the pump & the engine failed & filled the engine crank case full of water. The pump was used to pump water only during its life. Upon disassembling to replace the seal, I found that the engine output shaft was corroded to the point that the seal could no longer function. This is a rather poor design in that the engine output shaft is the shaft that the pump impeller directly connects to & it is enevitable that the shaft will eventually corrode to the point that the seals will no longer function. Pacer builds a pump that has its own shaft & is coupled to the engine or motor via a coupler. This appears it would be a better set up. July 20, 2012

Pacer Self-Priming Chemical Pump Our Hazmat Team uses numerous these Pacer Self-Priming Chemical pumps for transferring food grade products and hazardous materials. The Pacer Chemical pump is lightweight and can be carried by one person. The pump starts easily every time. We disassemble the pumps and wash them out within minutes. We have used these pumps for years with no problems. The pumps are powerful and strong. We have fitted the suction and discharge with quick connects and have not experienced any problems. Great Power We bought this pump mainly for use if a brush fire threatens our home. We intend to pump our pool water onto the structure and surrounding tall trees. We have plenty of power to hit even our tallest trees(60'-80'). It started right up and works smoothly, without having to prime it. You do need to make sure there is water in it to start, but we had heard bad stories from people who had to prime their pumps. The only thing we are having to do is build a rolling platform, so that I can get it out to the pool if I am alone, It is pretty heavy and has one (unbalanced ) handle. But we are generally very happy with the price and functioning of this pump. August 11, 2008

Pacer Water Pump Very dependable and easy to start. Is a good pump for occasional use. Could use a larger gas tank. I would recommend purchasing the roll over mounting base and cage for it. July 9, 2007
