The amp draw of this unit will depend on how much pressure it is building, the maximum amp draw at 40psi is 9.6 amps. The minimum amp draw at 0psi is 5.0 amps.

According to the manufacturer, the SHURflo On-Demand Diaphragm Pump does not have a specific duty cycle. The duty cycle will depend on pressure(lower the psi = the longer the pump can run without a break), and ambient temperature(lower the temp = the longer the pump without a break). Under typical conditions, the pump will be able to run about 2 hours continuous, with a 1 hour break.

The pressure switch has a adjustment from 40-60 psi. It is factory set at 45 psi. It will turn on at 25 psi plus/minus 5 psi.

Pump performance

Details:

Require a 12 volt pump that can pickup from approx 8 ft in elevation , push 40 ft in elevation over a 200 ft of poly pipe, would this pump be able to handle this load. Thanks for your response Bill

Answers

For every 12 feet you will loose 1 foot for every 1000 foot above sea level. As long as you are below 4000 feet you are good.

This pump will pump your 40 feet up and have about 20 psi left over but your choice of pipe will affect that some more. The smaller the pipe the higher PSI and less water volume. The larger the pipe the less PSI and more volume.

The manufacture specs claim up to a 12 foot pull that reduces by 1 foot for every 1000 feet above sea level. As long as your bellow 4000 feet above sea level it should prime fine.

This pump will pump your 40 feet up and have about 20 psi left over but your choice of pipe will affect that some more. Bigger the pipe the more psi at the end. Smaller pipe will lower your psi and flow rate. Be careful if you go too big of pipe you'll start to get sediment in your pipe if your water isn't perfectly clean.

Yes, this pump will self prime a height of up to 12 ft above liquid level and push water up to 120 ft above liquid level. Keep in mind that the farther above liquid level the fluid is pushed the lower the gpm output of the pump will be. When figuring the head on a pump only the rise is taken into consideration.

Answers

The pressure switch reacts to outlet pressure, and interrupts power at the preset shut-off pressure indicated on the pump label. When outlet pressure drops below a predetermined limit (typically 15-20 psi.[1-1.4 bar] less than the shut-off pressure), the switch will close and the pump wil operate until the shut-off (high) pressure is achieved. The shut-off pressure is set to factory calibrated standards.

Pump ran for 13 years Just had to replace this pump after 13 years of use. Use it on a 25 gallon pump sprayer. Can't complain on any mechanical part that goes for this long, and performs as stated. Not many products do that these days. Hopefully my replacement will be as well made and reliable as the first one. April 26, 2013

12V SHURflo Pump "I use this on a portable coffee cart here at school. We use a 10amp computer power supply to provide 12v constant and run the machine off of a wall outlet. This in combination with a water tank lets us roll the unit around and sell anyplace we have power as opposed to a built in installation. The pump has provided very good service and it's low power demands mean we don't tax the inverter. I have not had to give the unit any maintenance and the pressure it provides is more than ample for our needs. The built in regulator means one less part I need to worry about. I also love how quiet it is, you can't hear it running over the sound of a cup of coffee being poured. This SHURflo pump has been excellent." October 15, 2012

Great for the price I bought this to use on my deck boat for the freshwater sink and for a washdown pump. It's advertised online as not for drinking water, but there is nothing in the paperwork saying it cant be. However, we dont drink much water out on a party boat, so the sink will just be used for washing things, etc. It comes with fittings for 1/2 inch ID tubing and the power wires are about 12 inches long, so you will probably need some wire for installation and the appropriate hardware for your situation. It has 4 mounting holes with rubber shock isolators for a solid mount. Mine is mounted on its side on a vertical bulkhead inside a compartment. Very quiet running pump with good pressure. I bought a coiled garden hose with sprayer from the hardware store and it will spray a good stream to wash off the deck. The only thing I would add is a small pressure tank to prevent pulsing of the stream... The pump is so powerful that it reaches the shutoff pressure even when spraying wide open, so it wants to cut off and on. You can get a small tank online for pretty cheap, so that should smooth things out... October 10, 2012

Works great Solid construction. Flow rate is as advartised. Only complaint is the hose connections. They are some size smaller than a common garden hose. But the adapting fittings were in stock in a large local hardware store for a few dollars each. To be fair - all pumps of this class have the same non garden hose threaded outlets.... Horse trailer water supply ShurFlo is a well respected brand and this pump proves the respect. Adding a 30gal tank to my 3 horse trailer then setting up this pump to the Aux electrial wiring. Add a 12 foot hose and no more carrying buckets of water when parked in a field at a barrel race. I've used Shurflo pumps on small boats for more years than I care to admit to and you can't beat Northern's price. January 16, 2012
