Is the top receiver rated the same for towing strength?

Details:

I am trying to raise my receiver higher to accomodate a trailer used to haul wood. I need to level the trailer better. Can this be flipped over to gain height?

The top receiver on this dual hitch extension is not meant for towing. The bottom receiver is for towing, the top is for accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

multi-use This is a great product for many uses. I purchased one a few years ago, and began by using it as a camper/bike hitch. Recently, I was given a cheap winch, and was no longer using this product for anything. I drilled two holes in the top tube and mounted the winch to it. Now, I can use the same winch with different trailers with out having to unhook stuff, etc. Plus, it works great for pulling people out of the snow (I'm from SD). I also used the outer up and down tube to mount an eye-bolt which I use for pulley blocks, etc. February 23, 2010

Great towing accessory This is a great hitch extension if you are looking for something to add versatility when you tow. I got it to hook a cargo box into the upper receiver to add some ground clearance. This is a better design than the Valley brand that performs a similar function. This is designed to hook a bike rack into the upper receiver but it is heavy duty enough to use for other uses such as what I got it for. July 20, 2009

Just what I needed. As a woman going camping, we need a lot of stuff. I bought this receiver for a cargo carrier and a bike rack, plus on my 06 Wrangler, I needed the extension because of my oversized spare. Even with the dual receiver, the rear door opens with enough room to spare.We went about 500 miles with no issues, except it has quite a bit of play in my hitch receiver. I bought one at a trailer store for more money and had a worse problem with it being loose. Overall, it is worth the money and a good product. May 18, 2008

DUAL RECIEVER I BOUGHT THE DUAL RECIEVER TO MOUNT MY SNOW PLOW WITH AND USE A WINTCH TO RECOVER ITEM'S DOWN OVER BANK'S ALSO MADE A BRACKET TO LIFT THE SNOW PLOW AS WELL. IT IS THE BEST THING I HAVE BOUGHT IN A LONG TIME IT A FANTASTIC PEACE OF OF TOOLING. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT SOONER. April 14, 2008

Options This is a pretty neat idea, I have had it for about 4 years now maybe used it 3 times but it is always there for those special towing needs, it is well built from heavy gauge metal,with a good finish on it. The times I did use it were with a bike carrier and a hitchhauler, I was able to carry 5 bikes and some small coolers etc. January 22, 2008

Strong Constitution Wow! Built like a rock only better. Upside is strength and versaltility. You can use it upside down, right side up or even sideways (not truly recommended though). I ran into two issues, one is that because it added length if also lowers the tongue weight and changes the center of gravity so watch the handling. Second, depending on how I used it I sometimes could not lower my tailgate all the way but with some forethought even that can be avoided. Great tool for the arsenal. January 22, 2008
