Northern Industrial Grinder Stand With Drip Pan
It works, but keep your expectations low
If you're reading this, maybe you arrived here the same way I did - looking for even a halfway decent stand that didn't cost both arms and legs. This one meets that description, though it's a far cry from what it should be.
The parts are all painted well enough, and each comes wrapped in protective foam sheeting (which was applied while the paint was still wet apparently). Assembly bolts are big & stout, and there are enough of them. You shouldn't have to re-make the whole thing, thread new holes, etc., as some stands apparently require just to work at all. This will hold your grinder up, hold it securely, doesn't seem like it will fall apart, and so I supposed it meets the basic requirements although fit & finish is what you'd expect from the cheapest Chinese factory with zero quality control. The water tray holder is unuseable without modification though - the hole that goes over the pipe is nearly a full inch in diameter larger than the pipe's O.D., so it won't even mount properly.
My search for a better stand will go on. In the meantime this will get me by for awhile. Funny to think we went to the Moon over 40 years ago and we can't make a decent grinder stand now.

Good Stand for the price.
This is a very good stand for the price. The only think that I would add is that leveling feet might be needed to prevent the stand from wobbling around, but if you secure it to the floor, this will not be an issue.

Holds the Grinder Off the Floor
It keeps the grinder from laying in the floor. It's a stand. It stands. It was easy to assemble. It has bolt holes in the feet for securing to the floor. It has a removable water tray to quinch parts.

Solid Construction--Attractive Price--Good Product
I like this grinder stand as-is. I mounted it to a 2' x 3' wooden base to provide added stability. I installed 2 small casters on the edge of the wooden base to allow it to be easily moved by tipping it forward. So, stability with mobility! Nice!

This grinder stand was easy to assemble, and it looks very good with my heavy duty grinder mounted on it. The casting surface quality is not great, but it definately serves its purpose, which is to hold my grinder very securely at a comfortable height to use. I am very satisfied with my purchase of this grinder stand.
Before mounting my grinder on this stand, I had been using it for almost 30 years just sitting on my work bench, and all the time wishing I had a good stand to mount it on, but also a little too lazy to find and purchase a good one. I found this one on a visit to the Northern Tool store in Lewisville, when I went there to pickup a pipe bender I had purchased from their internet site. It was just sitting there, like a little puppy, waiting for someone to take it home, and I just couldn't resist, and I am very happy with my decision to buy it.

You need this!
I was in the market for a grinder stand and kept seeing some cheap looking angle iron ones. When I saw this stand I knew it was going to be worth every penny. It has a very sturdy construction and it looks good too. If you have a grinder you definitely have to get this stand.

I have been looking for the right grinder stand @ the right price for a long time. I found many to be cheaply made (yet expensive), not tall enough, too light weight, no extra features, etc, etc. I finally found this unit on the Northern Tool web site. It appeared to have all the features I was looking for, and more, for a good price. I couldn't be happier, shipping was very fast, it assembled easily and works well with my 8 inch grinder. I would recommend this stand to anyone with a 8 inch or smaller grinder.

Great Price for Castings
I purchased this stand knowing that I would have to replace the tubing. Everywhere I searched, the stands were too short for my comfort and/or outrageously expensive. I could have made my own, but the cast drip pan would have been a bit challenging. I bought this stand and replaced the supplied 4" tube with a 4" schedule 40 black iron pipe a little longer to raise the height to my satisfaction. I then mounted a small length of 3/8" pipe to the top mounting plate (behind grinder) in which I attached a $10 gooseneck desk lamp. Now it has plenty of mass, custom height, adjustable lighting and all is rock solid. Excellent parts at an excellent price for building a custom stand.

Great Universal Product
I received a bench grinder as a gift and decided I wanted to mount it on a stand. I purchased this stand and love it. It came with very little to assemble. It is very sturdy and heavy duty. The large holes made it very easy for my bench grinder (which is a different brand) to fit the stand. Would definately recommend this product.

A Tool For All Seasons
I am so pleased with the quality and durability of the grinder stand that I recently purchased from Northern. It works great for everything from sharpening mower blades to grinding bolts to sharpening knives. It was easy to assemble and is well built. I spent considerable time and effort shopping around, and this tool was by far the best for the money. Thanks once again Northern for selling a quality product for a reasonable price. My loyalty remains with you.
