I would not think so. Moles are blind and tend to migrate away from vibration, which is the principle this item works on. Chipmunks are curious and would most likely be attracted to it.

Use of Windmill

Details:

I used this in Virginia and loved the results in keep voles and moles out of yard.

.Do you think this will keep birds away from small fruit trees? Also do you think the sound might keep snakes and other crawing spinders at bay?

Being the windmill is designed to provide a vibration in the ground for voles and moles, we are unable to say if it will work for birds or other animals.

The birds, rabbit's, deer soon become use to them and are not bothered by the windmills. Fortunately they do work well for the gophers and voles in this area. I live on 10 acres and have surrounded my back yard with eight of them about 15 apart from each other to make a wind mill fence to keep the little burrowing suckers from eating the roots of our tree's and bushes. 8 foot fence took care of the deer eating the fruit trees. Birds love to perch on them and dine on the fruit. We have dwarf fruit tree's so we can throw garden netting over the trees to protect the fruit.

I put it on top of a 10' length of 1/2" galvanized pipe that I have driven 2' into the ground. This puts it high enough that there are no worries about anything interfering with the blades.

Use a 8 foot metal pipe. I put it in the ground so that the windmill is above your head. You do not want someone walking into it when it is turning. At least a foot down, deeper is ideal. The noise of the ball bearing in the windmill is what keeps the gophers away.

I used an 8 ft galvanized pipe inserted into rebar that I pounded at least a foot into the ground. Works great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DD15 Mole Chaser I had moles moving into my yard more so every year. I decided it was time to do something before they took over my entire yard. I bought 4 of the mole chaser's, bought 2 8' sticks of 1/2" galv. pipe and cut them in half and drove them in the ground 2' each. Stuck the chaser on them and in a weeks time I haven't seen any activity. I think they have moved onto a vacant lot behind my house so I guess I will keep chasing them. Product seems to work very well. I just hope the little generator bearing stays together. It would be nice if they could add a better bearing and housing. I would pay more if need be. Rated 1 out of 5 by Lynnetta DIFFICULT TO ASSEMBLE One, you need at least two pairs of hands to put this thing together. Two, it does not come with the necessary hardware for assembly. The hardware was VERY INEXPENSIVE but difficult to find the correct size; it seems they could include that with the product since it is cheap! I'll let you know if it works if I ever get it put together, and if it works, my rating will no doubt go up! October 15, 2015

I SHOULD SAY WERE. PUT IN TWO CHASERS 3 WKS AGO AND YARD IS MOLE FREE. I DO SUGGEST MAKING A STARTER HOLE FIRST WITH A PIECE OF REBAR OR SOMETHING IF YOU HAVE HARD CLAY LIKE WE DO. MONEY WELL SPENT !
