How do you connect this to a garden hose?

Details:

I store water in barrels mounted to a trailer, and connected to a hose for discharge. I'd like to increase the pressure and speed of water emptying from the tanks. How do I connect this pump to a garden hose, on both ends?

Flojet does make a garden hose adapter(item # FJ20381007) for this on-demand pump. It would need to be ordered through Northern Tool's Replacement Parts Department. Contact them at 1-800-222-5381, and select the menu option for replacement parts.

Details:

I want to locate pump approx. 2 feet above lake level and push a run about 200 feet with a lift of about 20 feet. Will this pump maintain reasonable PSI over that distance. If not can I put another unit in-line to boost it?

According to the manufacturer, the Flojet On-Demand Pump will move water horizontally 100 feet, would have no trouble with 20 vertical feet, but most likely will not have very good performance at 200 feet. You can add a second unit in line, and would be able to better maintain psi over that distance.

Will this pump work directly off of solar panels ?
if so can it run without a controller and operate when the Amp / Watt load is great enough?
If not, any other 12v Pump do this?

Yes, it will pump unpressured water. I use it on a boat and the pickup is just one foot below the surface. Use a check valve so you do not loose the prime.

It will operate off a 12 volt battery, a deep cyle would be ideal. Depending on how much use it will receive, you can expect it to go 2-3 days before recharging easily.

That answer depends on the size of your battery. Deep cycle batteries are rated in Ah (Amp hours). For example if you have an 80 Ah battery that is in good condition it will pump for about 10 hours, @4.9 gallons per minute that would equal approximately 2,940 gallons. This unit draws 8 amps.

Ah / amp draw = approximate run time

gallons per minute x 60 = gallons per hour

gallons per hour x hours of run time = total output in gallons over the charge of the battery

Answers

The pump puts out 40 PSI for the pressure. It is an on demand pump. It works when a switch is turned on and off when you turn it off. It would work similar to your home. When you turn on a faucet the water runs, when you shut it off the water flow stops. You would need to set up your own connections.

Flojet water pump Installed in our camper and works great. Easy to install October 8, 2012

Portable 12v water pump I bought this for use on a boat dock where I have only 12v power. Worked like a charm. Added a brass screen with foot valve and 8 foot hose to the removeable hose barb. Having the hose barb easily removed with the slide lock is a great feature not noted in the standard description, but makes storage and transport a breeze. But I now don't have to remove and reinstall hose clamps every time I use the pump. Worked over 3 hours with no noticeable draw down on the 12v deep cycle battery. Full pressure always. The pressure shutoff switch worked even overnight when I quickly left the metal dock in a thunderstorm that lasted through the night. Using it now to pump water from rain barrels to irrigate landscaping. Would recommend to anyone needing a portable 12v system. August 13, 2012

Flowjet ON-Demand Pump This pump run quieter than pumps I have used in the past , does a great job of self priming and the shut off of liquid works great! This pump lacks a on/off switch for the power supply however it was very simple to install a switch near the pump, Over the years of daily use I feel this pump is the most dependable pump I have used. No pressure tank req'd! Very nice pump with great flow! It's an integral part of our residential rainwater collection system powered by our solar 12V battery bank. It's working just fine. It's a little noisy, but the great thing is it doesn't require a pressure tank like the old ones did, just hook it up, turn on a faucet and the water flows. I've run it for hours at a time filtering our water in the tanks with no problem. June 6, 2011

recommendation You need to by a 20 mesh filter with this pump to protect it but you cannot find the mesh at Northern Tool. I have lifted water from a spring 20 feet above ground without any problem. Great product June 1, 2010
