Northern Industrial Abrasive Blaster Deadman II
This year I shot several hundred pounds of media. I encountered problem with the deadman that came with the media blaster when I bought it from Northern equipment not very long into the project. I ordered the deadman II and found it to be the best one that I have ever used. This designed made it very simple to shoot all the media I wanted each day without any problems. The only expendables were the stop block and the tips. I seem to be able to get more life out of these expendables. I would highly recommend this deadman to anyone that has the old style.

does not last
after about 15 minutes of use, it would allow air and small amounts of sand to leak around nozzle to the point it would stop up if the handle was released for more than a few seconds.

The gun works great for the price. Would not recommend for frequent everyday use. I have run Four bags of sand through the gun so far and it has performed up to my expectation.

A pretty good deal...
It comes with four tips, which would run you almost as much as the unit.
The problem is that the rubber blocks are very poor quality and you can't buy new ones. If you're turning the flow on and off often, you could go through one of the blocks in as little as an hour.
I made a new one out of wood and stuck some 1/8" gasket material on the bottom. The quality of the gasket rubber is way better and I've been using the same piece now for probably 8 hours.

The deadman handle for sand blasting is a direct fit, problem free unit. I am extremely satisfied with it, and would recomend it to anyone.

bought this based on the price. It was intended for use on my home made blaster and has worked out very well. it lost a small screw where the internal hose gets pinched, so it was stuck 'open', regardless of releasing the handle. replaced the little screw and continues to work very well.

Works decent, valve sticks open a little leaking air but no sand.

My presure blaster came with a ball valve-type gun, which lasted for 3 or 4 tanks of sand before it was so eroded that it was pretty much useless. I bought one of the above guns from Northern and was sure that I has found the answer to my sandblasting woes. However, after a few tanks of sand, the gun started to leak air after the handle was released. The leak worsened to the point that the hose loaded up with sand as a result of the leakage. I disassembled the gun according to the instuctions and installed the single replacement rubber tube that came with the gun, which restored proper function. After the second tube wore out , I had a hard time finding rubber tubing that would work with the gun (most tubing found at auto stores, etc. are reinforced with cord and are too stiff to work). This gun is a great design, but I suggest that more tubes be supplied with the gun, that replacement tubes be listed in the catalog or that tubes and replacement nozzles be packaged together. Love it when its not leaking, though!

Great gun, not for sand
This is a great idea and a whole lot better than the nozzle that came with my Clarke pressure blaster, but it didn't do very well with sand. Frequently the media cut off would clog and jam open making it a safety hazzard.
