"Alaskan MK III Portable Lumber Mill, Model# G776-36"
It is what it is.
The mill works great for what it is. Better than what I thought it was going to be. You do need a decent size blade for your saw though. The rig takes 6 inches off of your blade, so keep that in mind. I am running a stihl MS311 with the 20" bar. I get an absolute max of 14" wide cuts. Because of this I am having a hard time finding something to use for first cut cutting rails. All of my ladders are too wide. So I need a larger saw and or bar. I did not buy their first cut rails because of my budget but I may look into it.
All and all have a sharp saw, all your safty gear, eyes, ears and face shield are a big must. The chips come off the saw straight for your forehead and it feels like sticking your head out the car window while following a salt truck. I have played with some hard and silver maples, cherry and some aspens.

This was everything I expected and more. The alaskan portable sawmill is a great product for the pro or the beginner. With the right chain it will turn your logs into beautiful slabs in no time flat. I would recomend this product for anyone who has a chainsaw and the need for beautiful slabs of whatever logs you have.

I love "some assembly required" so building it was not a big deal for me. Worked like a charm, but you really need a beefy chainsaw.

Does exactly what I wanted and expected!
This mill is great!. Works well with my 24" Stihl but now I need a bigger chainsaw because it fits up to a 30" bar. This a great product made of very durable materials which will provide me with years of service on milling projects. Very simple to assemble and adjust for the thickness of your milling cuts. I am very satisfied and getting my money's worth!

Granberg Portable Mill
This portable mill is easy to set up and use. I have produced many great bowl blanks for my wood lathe. Very accurate smooth slabs many up to 8" X 24".

I love this product.I've started making furniture out of the wood I've cut and sold it as fast as I can make it.People have found out I have the mill and are now asking me to cut trees up they have and want to turn into furniture. My only advice is to make sure you buy the right chainsaw and to research it as much as possible.I did a lot of research and bought the right equipment and it works great.A lot of work but very rewarding.

I bought the 36" mill to cut slabs from fallen trees on my property. Assembly was easy and it is well made. It hasn't given me a problem yet. I am pleased with this product.

Turning logs into lumber right where they lay.
For the past decade, I have run a tree service crew with a long time friend. We were tired of letting good hardwood logs become firewood, so I purchased this chainsaw mill along with the 9' top rail guide system. It has been wonderful. The laser etched gauges make it simple to cut boards of any thickness you desire and the cast aluminum construction is both light weight and extremely durable. Best of all, the boards we sold from the first cherry log we milled paid for the entire purchase and then some. I would recommend this product to anyone wishing to create their own building materials.

I bought this device along with a stihl magnum 460 with a 36" bar to mill a huge oak tree(72" butt) felled in Isabelle in 2003. It's a lot of work, but the results are impressive. I used the same setup to mill a pecan felled by Irene last year and the eguipment still performs well. The engineering and execution of the mill exhibit well thought out ideas refined to a great degree.
