    1. Inside the transfer switch is a manual transfer handle for switching from automatic to manual operation. For further instructions, please open the Product Manual link and go to page 11.

  3. I have a 7 KW Stand by generator -Alternator Model 43892 Serial # 3788249 - 12/12/2003. My LP furnace goes into error mode when the generator supplies power because of dirty power. Does Generac have a device to provide clean power for my Furnace?

    1. Put a Large UPS in between the Generator and Furnace. 2000-2500 watts will work and filter the noise.

    2. The output on the generator is pure sine wave. The standby generator will have less than 5% harmonic distortion. There is not an additional device that is available to lower the total harmonic distortion of the generator.

  4. Can you add more circuits

    1. You can use double breakers so instead of 8 breakers/circuits you could backup a total of 16 circuits all at 120V each. Great if you are only backing up lights and computers and internet modems and a fridge. I have oil heat and hot water so this is perfect to backup the fridge and sump pump and attic fan and all the outlets. Nobody is gonna be using more than a laptop or tv basically. The smaller breakers are two breakers in the size of one breaker position. That may be what you are looking for if nobody plans on using an outlet to power a Rock Concert and light show.

    1. The Generac PowerPact Model 6998 operates at about 69 decibels, quieter than most portable generators.

  6. Do I need the cold kit?

    1. A cold weather kit, item 50754, is recommended to help maintain optimum performance and easier starting in cold weather. When temperatures fall below an acceptable level, the thermostat activates the battery warmer and crankcase oil heater.

    1. With the mobile link model 006463-1 (available separately), you will be notified when a change in the generators status occurs via email or text message.

  9. Can I use this generator on a remote cabin without having any other power source at the location? maybe just use in manual mode?

    1. These generators are not to be used as the sole source of power. It would void the warranty.

    1. The generator must be installed outside. It would require a clearance of 18" away from any combustibles and 5ft away from windows or any openings. It requires adequate air flow around it.
