  1. Can this be ceiling mounted? Is the retract stop adjustable so it can be reached from a 10ft ceiling?

    1. Ours is ceiling mounted. We used washers to ensure the bracket wouldn't come loose from the bolts holding it to the ceiling, but yes, it can be ceiling mounted. Also Yes, the stop is adjustable. Our garage ceiling is over 10' and we simply unscrewed the ball/stop and moved it to a new location.

    2. Yes, it can easily be ceiling mounted and the ball stop can be moved so that the line will hang at whatever height you would like.

    3. I have it mounted on an 8 ft.ceiling,if you need to reach the plug you can pull it down a few feet. Just make sure
      its close enough to a power outlet. The cord stop is
      adjustable.

    10. The website description states that it may be either wall or ceiling mounted. Also if you look at the customer pictures you will see that almost all of them have mounted their units on the ceiling. Just be sure you attach it very securely.

  2. Will the reel retract if mounted horizontally rather than vertically, such as under a workbench?

    1. Yes, but the housing swivels on the base, so be advised.

    3. One of mine is mounted on the garage door lift brackets at an angle and plugged into the same outlet as the operator. I adjusted the stop ball so I could reach it. It has worked flawlessly in all temps for several years. I have others mounted high on the upright steel posts in a metal building. also unheated. Stop balls adjusted about 7 ft up on the cord so I can reach them. All have worked fine and held up with no problems. Move the cable side to side a little while retracting to let it lay in the reel properly.

    1. Yes, side mounted breaker button. I'd assume 15amps, I've tripped it a couple times.

  9. can the locking mechanism be disabled

    I am in need of a self retracting one that does not lock in place.

    2. The locking mechanism cannot be disabled. Any modifications would void the warranty. At this time, we do not have any retractable cord reels with the triple tap that do not have a locking mechanism.

  10. Is the cord Oil resistance?

    1. One of my reels is used in a very busy (sometimes quite messy/oily) shop and I've seen no deterioration due to oil. I simply allow the cord to reel itself back in while I hold a shop towel around it to clean periodically. Just like any other heavy duty extension cord.

    2. The cord is not oil resistant. The cord and taps must be kept dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
