  1. Will this cut saw cut 160 pieces of rebar

    2. Blade life is different depending on who uses it. If you let the blade do the work and not force it, it should easily last long enough to cut 160 pieces of rebar. If someone forces the cut you can damage the blade or break the teeth off. I have found that the blade will last a long time if you take your time with the cuts.

    5. This saw will cut multiple times. You would cut one piece at a time for safe and secure clamping.

  2. How is this blade different than a fine tooth carbide blade?

    How is the blade different from a fine tooth Carbide Blade. Why does it not jam up? does it run slower or faster than a standard wood cutting miter saw? Is a stick lubricant recommended?

    1. Yes, carbide saw blades must run slower when cutting metal, than wood.

      Lubrication is usually not necessary, unless cutting aluminum or copper.

      In ALL metal cutting operations, use light pressure on the blade. DO NOT force it, or it will break the blade.

    2. Different cutting angle. Blade speed is much slower.
      Lube not needed, let the saw do the work, don't force the blade into the material.

    3. Saw runs at 1450rpms, compared to a typical saw at 5000rpms. Stick lubricant is not needed.

      Just bought one of these yesterday, and WOW... cuts effortlessly and fast, and clean.

    4. The carbide-tipped blade is manufactured to be stronger than a regular TCT saw blade. It runs at 1450 RPM's which is slower than a standard wood cutting saw. This is a dry cut design, so no lubricant is needed.

    1. This saw is intended for cutting metal. Cutting concrete blocks is not recommended. Please see our item #20965 or #54622 for concrete and masonry saws.

    2. This Ironton dry cut metal saw can be used to cut chrome piping/tubes up to 4 3/4" round. However, the chrome plating may chip or crack depending on the quality of the chrome.

  7. How clean does this cut? Does the piece need to be cleaned up with a grinder after you cut?

    1. its not a polished finish, but is very smooth, we cut and go right to welding the piece

    2. This metal saw does make clean cuts. Results may vary with the ability of the user as well as what type of metal is being cut. Some clean up may be required.

  8. What is the thickness of this blade?

    Is this the only blade that will work in this saw?

    1. IT IS .125" THICK. ANY 14" BLADE WILL WORK. CHOP SAW BLADES ARE BEST FOR IT.

    2. The blade that's included with this saw is 1.8mm thick. The carbide tips on the blade are 2.75mm thick. Other blades can be used on this saw as long as they are for metal cutting, have a 1" arbor, have a 1450 RPM rating or greater, and have the same thickness.

  9. I was wondering how this saw would perform on 2" & 3" Schedule 80 PVC?

    I have a large plumbing job coming up and would prefer to use this saw if possible rather than a Sawzall due to the weight and thickness of the pipe. Thought I would get nice, square cuts quicker and easier. My only concern is that the blade might melt the pvc as it cuts.

    2. This saw is designed solely for cutting metal. Northern Tool cannot recommend it for cutting softer materials like PVC or wood, etc.

  10. Will this machine cut billet T6-6061 & 7075 aluminum without clogging the blade?

    1. Yes, however you may want to check squareness of cut and prepare for some adjusting. Cut 6061 all day, then have to clean it up on the mill to be used as blanks. Still faster than a bandsaw.

    2. The blade will cut non ferrous metals such as aluminum. To avoid clogging the gullets you can use a blade lubricant stick.
