Dos the multiplier require a 1 inch drive socket?

the output is 1 inch but you can use adapters to reduce it to 3/4 or even down to 1/2 if needed...so you don't need a whole set of 1 inch sockets...adapters are normally pretty inexpensive

Klutch Torque Multiplier
Does this multiplier lock in position while under pressure, or does it simply apply multiplied torque while input ratchet is applying torque and releases applied torque when operator releases pressure on input ratched.,
-
Ridgerunner12· 6 years ago
it only applies the amount of torque that you place on the handle. it does not lock

I have not used this particular multiplier but have used similar types several times...there is no 'locking' at all, it transmits torque when the operator applies torque to the input...the same as normal ratchet operation, only multiplied by 3

The torque multiplier will not lock in position and will release the pressure when no longer applied by ratchet.

Minimum torque output
My torque output required is 320 foot-pounds with is considerable less than the 2200 maximum for this tool. Will this tool work OK to output 320 foot-pounds?
-
Ridgerunner12· 6 years ago
Absolutely, it is a great tool. you may have to use pipe for cheaters on the handles. It will produce all the torque you will need.

It has a low torque setting for a maximum torque of 730 foot pounds. It would be fine to use for your 320 foot pounds torque.

does it starts from zero up?
-
mrshllmrshll· 10 years ago
There are no graduation marks on a multiplier. You'll have to furnish your own torque wrench if you intend to tighten bolts or nuts with this tool. Since it's a 3 to 1 multiplier an input of 100 foot pounds would equal an output of 300 foot pounds

KlutchExpert6· 12 years ago
This torque multiplier would be used along with the included 3/4" drive ratchet to increase your torque output. It uses the 3:1 ratio planetary gear set to convert low torque, minimum of 730 foot pounds, to a high torque of a maximum of 2200 foot pounds for heavy duty tightening or loosening operations. It is not a torque wrench.

when used in conjunction with a torque wrench does 100 ft/lbs input mean you have 300 ft/lbs output or do you have to allow for a percentage for gear friction (example 10 to 20%)
1 answer-
KlutchExpert12· 7 months ago
When this torque multiplier is used in conjunction with a torque wrench, 100 ft.-lbs. input means there will be 300 ft.-lbs. of output. If gear friction is considered, the recommended range is about 10% - 20%.
