Great little battery maintainer
I use this with my Motorcycle battery over the winter months to keep it from going dead while not in use. This is much better than a normal battery charger, it will not overcharge and automatically switches to a maintenance mode once the battery is fully charged. I am planning to buy a second one to use on my trailer batteries.

Have several older models.
I have about 12 of the older model Battery Maintainers on various vehicles. Some of these batteries have lasted over 10 years and I've been VERY pleased with the maintainers performance.
Other than the missing "Rejuvenate" button, I see no reason that these would not be just as good.

Great Product
I purchased this product to maintain several batteries in 4-wheelers, tractors, and lawnmowers. This product has functioned above all expectations.
I would strongly recomend this to anyone who needs to keep batteries hot and ready to go.

A simpler Batteryminder w/temperature compensation
I'm glad they finally came around to making a basic batteryminder model with some form of temperature compensation. The model #12117 or Batteryminder Plus was a good update but it felt I couldn't buy it as it didn't have temperature compensation like the #12248 that I have. So I thought I had an ideal unit when this Model 1500 came out as it seemed to be reasonably priced and it had temperature compensation.
Unfortunately, it's missing the button on the face of the unit which allows the user to tell the unit to go straight to float charging mode. I find that button very important because I've got some older flooded batteries that for what ever reason won't trip the unit into going into float charging mode. So what ends up happening is that this charger will boil these batteries as they somehow aren't able to convince the charger that it's time to switch into float charging mode as indicated in the manual. Normally on batteries that won't go into float mode on their own, I'd either press the button on the unit to initiate float charging mode or I'd set the unit so that it was on "gel" as that has a lower max voltage of 14.1v so that trips the charger sooner into going into float charging mode as it thinks the battery is "charged" which in the case of my old flooded batteries, they really are.
So already, I'm disappointed as I bought the Batteryminder 1500 as a replacement for my model #12248 as there is no way for me to get the model 1500 to go into float maintenance mode on older batteries. I'm trying this unit out on some newer batteries that don't have issues with telling the charger that it's full at 14.4 or 14.7v. Ironically, I may just buy a model #12117 as I feel there is less risk to me boiling my batteries since I check their voltages periodically when charging so when they reach their completion voltages, I can tell it to switch into float maintenance mode.
Seriously though, how expensive is a freaking button! Also why is it that these chargers can't remember to stay in float maintenance mode when the power goes out and comes back on? If it's still attached to the battery when the power is cut, why can't the battery that was being charged be used by the charger to help retain its last settings? It makes sense for the unit to reset when unplugged from the wall and battery but if unplugged from just the wall, I don't think it makes much sense for it to forget it's previous settings...

The Best of the BEST!!
I have owned many charger/maintainers--This model 1500 Battery MINDer is superior to others--I charge and maintain a AGM Optima--it works like no other I have ever owned--The temp sensor is vital in maintance for a fully charged battery--Buy it you will be VERY pleased---

Best BatteryMINDer ever
Bought this newest BatteryMINDer in January and can't believe the features and ease of operation for under 50 bucks. Set out to buy the old "tried and true" model BatteryMINDerPlus but saw the 1500 model for the first time. I have a dozen or more batteries that I use it on to first bring back the weak (by desulfating them) and then keeping them in good shape by keeping them attached to the 1500. Doesn't matter what type battery sealed or filler cap. No buttons to push it's true Plug 'n Run.
Temperature sensor (already included & installed) prevents batteries from being overcharged. when it's hot or undercharged when cold. Dollar for dollar there is nothing out there than beats this new unit. I plan to buy several more and give my kids the old BMs I thought could never be surpassed, Boy was I wrong!!.
Buy it you'll not regret it. It's also covered by the maker's 1 year money back guarantee plus their "no hassle" 5 year warranty. CAN'T BE HAPPIER
