Can I use a 10/3 Wire?
I have an existing 10/3 pre-wired available can I use a 10/3 to wire this?
-

Certainly... I used 10-2 w/ground inside flex-conduit and 30 amp breaker. That's certainly adequit.

Yes, because there is no place to bond the neutral leg on a typical 4 wire 220v application. Use the black/white for the 120v legs and the green/copper as the ground and you're set.

yes. make sure the circuit is wired correctly with 30 amp breakers at the panel. L1, L2 + GRD, needs to be in flex conduit from the box to the heater

Can the CZ220 heater be used in wood shop?
Under General Safety Information in installation instructions - #15 specifies that this heater is not suitable for use in hazardous locations...areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored. Since I use stains and finishes in the shop, is that a problem? Or is a two-car garage-size shop big enough to dilute any fumes that might be produced?
-
LarryW1· 9 years ago
I have 2 of these ceiling-mounted in my workshop. I don't use gasoline in my shop but I do use stains, paint, varnish, etc. and as long as you use a bit of common sense I don't see a problem.

I don.t know what the official recommendation is but I have used this heater in my wood shop for several years and have had no problems, There is no glowing heating element It heats internally and transfers the heat through a heat exchanger much like a home furnace, I have used the same chemicals as you and am problem free.

My garage is about 600 square feet, insulated walls and ceiling (just fiberglass, nothing exotic), plus R-18 insulated garage doors. 17,000 btu works fine, but add a small fan blowing downward to pull the stratified hot air down to the concrete slab. Getting the concrete warm takes 24 hours, but after that the shop is comfortable for all kinds of work. The stored heat in the concrete is valuable, since if you are doing painting, spraying, and handling anything flammable I turn off ALL heat sources and air out the garage for a few minutes, and the concrete holds the heat until I can put the heater on again.

is this heater quite running?????
-
sigraph· 10 years ago
You can hear it running but it's not loud - sounds pretty quiet to me for a shop heater that puts out the amount of heat it does.

what is the lowest setting on the thermostat for this heater
-
42desertrat· 9 years ago

FrozenTundra· 10 years ago
The thermostat is not calibrated to temperature...instead you simply move the dial up or down until you are satisfied. In my experience, the dial set to the 9 o'clock position (nearly off) yields a garage space temperature of 60 degrees here in Wyoming.
