NorthStar Towable Boom Broadcast and Spot Sprayer - 26 Gallon, 2.2 GPM, 12 Volt
I have a 3 lot home. Lots of pine straw beds that weeds love to grow in. I was able to keep the landscaping and lawn weed free and do a family members yard also!! Saves huge amounts of time and energy compared to a pump sprayer. Attached hand wand is very convenient for spot-treatment. I would buy this sprayer again.
No damage out of the box. Easy to assemble. Good instructions and mixing guide. Pump power cord hooked to the mower perfectly. Easy to turn on and off. Unit is sturdy enough for most usage. I'm looking forward to weed control and fertilizing for the first time ever!!

26 gal towable sprayer
Sprayer arrived with the packaging intact. It was easy to assemble. Haven't used it as the winds have been 20-40 mph with stronger gusts. Based on construction, it will do the job. I have about 1/2 acre of weeds and then about 2 miles of weeds along dirt road that I'm trying to get nder control. Pulling this unit behind my riding mower will make this a lot easier. Well worth the money. Strong construction.

Replacements and changes
Replaced wheels with solid core on second use. Unit would go flat in storage, rendering it useless at moment of need.
Replaced diverter valve with brass unit at second usage. Diverter lever broke.
Wired switch location in cab of RTV, hard wired to battery --caution do not wire direct to alternator as that could cause alternator failure under an electrical short condition.
Wand tip replacement: must call NorthStar 1-800-270-0810, mine broke in six months probably due to handling.
A brass set would be nice.-- but I haven't called yet.
Changed hose to 35 foot of 5/8 OD (1/2 ID) flex nylon for improved reach to orchard trees.
Forget the specs of 2.2 GPM@70PSI. More like nominal half the flow rate @20 PSI as I have to stop and wait on the unit to catch up. Never saw, even new out of box, above 30PSI with water in the tank.
Due to reduced flow rate must slow to 2mph behind RTV when using boom broadcast. Boom unit works great and delivers a nice overlaping spray about the width of my RTV. Like being able to use the hand sprayer and shuting down the boom system, them going back to the boom system. Also can use left or right or both booms, depending on circumstances.
I can live with these low pressure/ low volume issues as selective spraying herbicide on 6 acres is easier even at 2mph than hand spraying, I like the unit and would order again, it would be a great unit if the pump delivered as needed. The pump works well even after spraying for almost two hours, so there is no overheating issues or other concerns related to extended use.
For the price this is a nice system and only needs some tweaking as events dictate.

Works well, but cheap parts..
This unit did not make it through it's first season before needing parts replaced. Y-valve for boom arms: one valve froze and stripped on 2nd use. Y-valve for spray wand/agitator: one side froze and stripped on 4th use. Replaced with quality brass Y-valves. Power cord is not long enough, had to add 4 feet. I tow behind a Dixie Chopper. Wand hose also a bit short.. replaced. Hoses that interconnect different parts of the unit are too short and kink.... replaced with longer hoses. Wand handle broke over winter.. probably my fault for not draining line enough. Brass would be better. All in all, when it works, it works well. Just cheap construction. For the price point I would expect better. I put about $50 into it and now have a unit that functions well and I know will last.

Tow behind sprayer
Product arrived packaged very well. Assembly very simple. One of the wheels came off during first use but was easily repaired and secured.
The remote switch is exactly what I was looking for in this type of sprayer.
I would recommend this product.

The directions were pretty straight-forward, and it was not too difficult to assemble. I had it up and running within an hour. I have only used it 2 times so far, once on front lawn area, and once in a pasture (a little rutty). Both times it performed great. My only note is that you should use on a day with little to no wind (duh!). I would definitely buy again, and recommend for small applications.

Good tank and sprayer, BAD trailer.
Sprayer and tank worked great. Wore out the tires and axle on first use. The tires de-laminated along the side walls. Store was easy to work with to get replacements tires. However, when replacing tires, I noticed that the axle had deep groves in it and the trailer frame was chewed away about 3/4" up from original axle holes. Yes, I did grease it before using it. Would not recommend trailer with this amount of water weight on it. The store accepted return of the defective unit. I'm getting another tank and sprayer, but will mount it on my own trailer frame.

Overall good sprayer. My biggest complaint about it would be that it bounced around quite a bit. I guess my pasture is rougher than the average yard.

Great, but follow the maintenance instructions
Bought in August 2012, used 2 times that fall for spraying long driveway, and again twice this spring and summer for driveway and lawn. Worked flawlessly. Love that each sprayer has separate on-off controls, as sometimes I want one side or the other but not both. Make sure to follow cleaning and winterizing instructions -- cleaning after use, and run RV antifreeze through the system to winterize. Agree with comments that wheels are a bit flimsy, but no problem so far.
