This Briggs & Stratton 1150 Series Horizontal OHV Engine, historically would been rated in the 8-9 hp range. 250 cc is the physical size of the engine and 11.5 foot lbs, is the rated output.

This Briggs & Stratton 1150 Series Horizontal OHV Engine is designed for use on products that require manual throttles. Northern Tool does not offer a kit at this time to adapt to hand or pedal throttle control.

Briggs & Stratton 1150 Series Horizontal OHV Engine - 250cc, 1in. x 2 7/8in. Shaft, Model# 15T212-0160-F8 4.7 5 3 3

Pretty Good Motor! I bought the 3/4" shaft version of this engine to replace a Subaru/Robin engine rated for 7 hp (210 cc engine) and drive a pressure washer rated to push 3 gal/min and 3000 psi.. after some research, I found that it was very likely the existing engine was underpowered and the B&S 900 would be equally under powered. I did try a 900 briggs and stratton first but under load it vibrated a LOT and seemed to be at it's limit. The 1150 has an extra 50 cc's of displacement and should be powered just right for my need. It is just SLIGHTLY larger (air box dimension) than the 900, but all other dimensions are pretty much the same. I think in fact I think most the internal components are probably the same except this motor has a larger bore. As a result B&S have not included the cast iron cylinder sleeve and have used a 'cool' tech aluminum sleeve... we'll see how durable it is over time. I also am curious if the intake diameter (and carburator diameter) are the same as the 900, because this engine does seem to backfire a bit more (the 900 almost didn't back fire at all) during load/unload cycles. The other lacking feature, that I think was done to keep the engine at a low price point (probably due to low demand) is the use of plain bearings for the output shaft rather than ball bearings. Ball bearings do sound nicer, but plain bearings probably work just as well, and maybe less susceptible to damage. For these reasons (the aluminum cylinder and the extra backfiring) I have given the engine 4 stars. I think it would be great if B&S made a dedicated design for the 1150 size. There seems to be a size gap between the ~200 cc engine and ~300 cc engine size that most manufacturers have not addressed throughly.. demand must be low. I would've purchased the 1450 if my power washer frame had room to fit it. This motor is the 1' shaft version of the one I bought, and is a little less expensive because the 1" crank shaft doesn't need to be milled down to 3/4". The 1150 powers the pump nicely as well and doesn't seem underpowered as the 200 cc engines seemed to be. It runs very well (with the extra back fire or two as the engine is suddenly unloaded). SO, in summary.. good motor, runs great so far, probably not quite as well equipped as the 900 or 1450, but we'll see in the long term if that makes a difference. This motor is a great choice if you want a little more power than the 900 offers, but can't make use of the 1450. In my experience Brigg's & Stratton make a motor that is very comparable to the 'onda motor and at a more efficient price point. April 23, 2013

Toughest Engine on the Market! This is byfar the toughest engine I have seen on the market! I use it on my go kart and it is bouncing around with the go kart frame and it still runs like new. Have only changed the oil, spark plug, and air filter twice but it runs like new. Has a great amount of power for my application. Thank you Northern Tool! April 23, 2013

Durable Engine This is a very durable engine. It has a great design and it starts every time with no hassle. It is compact and does not weigh a ton. Just make sure to secure it properly to the frame. It has so much torque that it will work itself loose. April 23, 2013
