How is it controlled?

Details:

I am interested in the fan but would like to know how is it controlled (on/off, speeds etc.) wall switch or a chain? Is it a plug in or does it have to be wired to a wall switch? Can it be mounted on drywall with appropriate fastners?

fan controled with chain switch with 3 speeds. Fan is a plug in. Mount to studed wall with 1x6 board and mount the fan bracket with 3 bolt-washer-lock washer nut assembly

This wall mount fan has standard 110 volt plug. The oscillating control, 3 speed controls and on/off switch are on back of fan. For mounting the fan to drywall, you would need a proper hard attachment.

Clearance requirements, construction materials, head adjust

Details:

I've seen this model described as having swing arm design. Once mounted on a wall, how far from the wall does the fan protrude during operation?
Does the head adjust to different angles, if so does it just "click" when moved, or does it have a screw that loosens, allows the head to be adjusted, and then tightened?
I ask because other wall fans I have tried merely click as the angle is adjusted and in time - some when brand new - they won't hold a fully upright position anymore.
Is this fan all metal? Including the blade, the oscillating gears and the lock that holds the head at different angles? Thanks very much.

The Q Standard Oscillating Wall-Mount Fan is all metal construction, including the blades, housing and gears. The swing arm included with the fan will extend 12"(not including fan) from the wall at its furthest point. The head only has a slight adjustment(about 5 degrees) and does not have different positions that would "click" into place.

Is the motor sealed (dust proof)?

Details:

I am looking at this for Horse stalls in a barn. Is the motor housing fully sealed? Dust kills fan motors in this application, as unsealed motors overheat after the dust gets in.

I saw this is NOT recommended for outdoors. Would this still true if installed on a screen porch, under a roof?

Details:

In my case, it would experience the heat and humidity of the summer, and maybe some water in a really bad rain storm. But generally, the fan would be protected from the beating sun or direct rain.

14 Inch Garage Fan Fan assembly was easy. Mounted on drywall studed wall with 1x6 board with 4 course wood screws. Mounted fan bracket with bolt-washer-lock washer and nut. Pushes good air in 24x26 garage. Fan is quiet operating. Fan has been used a few days with no issues July 6, 2012
