Love the drill, hate the box
I just received this drill so it's too early to comment on long term issues. Despite the reconditioned label everything looks new, was probably just buyers remorse.
Like all power tools the kit box is useless... too small to hold all the bits and blades you accumulate but this is the worst... not even room for a set of bits. And a drill collects more accessories than any other tool. Dewalt should have not even bothered with a kit box and sold the drill for less money.

These Dewalts Have All But Buried My Corded Drill
Works fine on general use carpentry and light gauge steel fab say 3/16" . I do about everything with mine but the heaviest hole hogging in heavy steel. I don't mind the weight of the large battery as it balances out the drill and allows it to sit upright using the battery as a base. Personally I use my Dewalt drill driver much more overall but for drilling I think I dig out the corded one maybe twice a year since getting the Dewalt . I'm equally impressed with my Dewalt Skill saw also to the point I only use the monster with the cord for ripping and pressure treated over 2 x 4 size. I just bought a set of replacement batteries last month which made my old ones between 5 and 7 years old. If I was a roofer and wanted lighter I might prefer the newer more powerful 24 volt L Ion models although for general carpentry and around the shop use I prefer these guys.
Big secret using any cordless: Don't let the batteries get super hot if doing a lot of continuous heavy drilling. If they start getting uncomfortably warm change them out as needed to keep the heat down. Store the batteries inside the house in winter months in cold climates . Do these things and your batteries will usually last 5+ years.

Mr Handy Man
I have purchased Dewalt Power Tools for many years and have found the dependability and durability unsurpassed. The ease of use is a big Plus. If you are in need of a power drill or any other Dewalt product I highly recommend this.

DeWalt cordless Drill
This is a great tool to have around the house. It holds a charge a long time and has all the torque that I need even for putting in deck screws in treated lumber. I would highly recommend.

Great Drill
This is a great dril. Always gets the job done. I have used it allmost daily for years without any problems. The batteries last a long time but are expensive to replace. After 8 tyears of use one of the batteries has died and the other one is starting to go. I will probably buy a new drill kit since the replacement batteries are close to the same price as a new drill.

Best cordless drill I've ever owned!
Well built and rugged. It's far superior to any other brand of cordless drill I've used. The tool has more power than other 110v corded drills that I have and great battery life. Definitely the "go to" drill in my shop!

xrp
This is the first generation model 18V drill from Dewalts cordless Tool line. It is the pre XRP model.
They where introduced in the early 90's and continue to be the best cordless drill in production today. Five years of continuous use for these drills would be nothing.(expect to easily get 10) .
Now for the bad. The bad thing about this kit is the batteries. Ni-cad was new technology when these came out and the had not really work all the bugs out. The batteries in this kit will only have a life average of two years. It is a great price on this kit but expect to replace your batteries. The second generation was the XRP line with battery life that would double to four years. The drill it self is a great buy but I would suggest you save your money and buy the XRP kit if you expect heavy usage.

Drill Doctor
This drill is an amazing tool because it seems to never die. It can drill through at least 1/2 plate steel without killing the motor! Just don't run it on high speed while doing it. Great drill, price is fantastic, could not want more out of my drill.
