How long is the cord for the solar panel?

Details:

We need to mount the solar panel on the back side of the house where unfortunately it will be blocked by trees by 2 p.m.

This Sunforce Solar Motion Light has 9' of wire between the light and solar panel. Extra wire can be spliced in for a max length of 25'.

Answers

The light will activate when motion is detected. There are three controls you can set to your needs. The first control would be the sensor which determines motion from the number of feet you want the sensor to be activated. The next control is the time duration. For example, do you want the light on for 8 seconds or 2 minutes. The last feature is the lux or brightness feature. This would determine the level of darkness outside that you want the light to turn on.

The light will come on at sundown and shut off at sunrise. Sometimes it will only come on after sunset to sunrise.. hope this helps,great light love it.

There's a dial to select how dark the ambient area must be before the light will activate. I choose to set mine at about 20% so that it's very dark before they will switch on. I did try them at the darkest setting but at that level even moonlight is too bright for them to come on.

Depends on how high you adjust the sensitivity dial. At the lowest setting you have to be really close - less than 5 feet. At about 60% setting the lights are catching me from 30 feet away. Haven't tried them on the max.

The solar panel unit is seperate (in the box) and has a base attachment with 4 small holes to be attached/ screwed into any surface.
The cord is about 12 feet long and plugs into the battery unit. 2 holes screw the light and battery unit to a garage or carport. Very easy to install. Hardest part is deciding how long you want to keep your light on when its activated. 20-30 seconds is where I keep mine. Great unit..

The motion light is one piece and it has two screws and anchors that mount it horizontally. It can rotate up and down.

The solar panel has four screws and anchors that mount a small base to a wall. The panel rotates in a ball and socket mounted to this base. There is about 6 feet of cord that you must run to the actual motion light using a standard DC plug to the unit. Everything is included.

ps This light is surprisingly bright.

Solar panel is separate from the light and has a separate mounting post. Light bracket is adjustable and has three mounting points, although you might get away with using just one of those if you have a solid location to screw into. The panel connects to the light with a pre-terminated plug...just plug it in and you're done. The wire is long...maybe 8 feet? Solar panel mount has 4 screw holes but you could probably use only 2 and be okay...it's not heavy.

The individual LED's are not replaceable, the entire LED panel is replaceable but only as a warranty replacement. The normal life of the LED's is 4 to 5 years under normal use.

LEDs are not replaceable but you wouldn't notice if a couple died. They last a very long time - many years. I have been using LEDs for over 10 years and never had one go bad. Batteries will need to be replaced typically after a few years. Contact manufacturer for details. It uses a battery pack- not individual batteries.

Just got my 2nd one I put my first one of these on the end of my house where there was no lighting or easily accessible wiring. I was so pleased with the performance, that I purchased a second one to replace a competitor's product on the back of my house, when theirs failed all too soon. April 27, 2013

A great lighting product I needed a light on the side of my house next to a woodlot where I had no light previously...This light really does the trick...Nice sized light and a pretty big solar panel as well...easily mounts practically anywhere you can drive a screw (included) and has several settings for sensitivity, running time, etc....the sensor eye can even be moved around so it can see in areas where the light is not aimed...I'm getting another soon... Lot of light I have had several of these and they are really bright compared to other lights I have used. I live on about 20 acres and it is too much to run cable to all areas so I have used these to get light to remote areas. I had one that came on in the daytime no matter what the setting. Northern was good about the replacement but I made the mistake of waiting too long to install it and the total warranty ran out. I still felt that they were fair and responsive in dealing with the problem. For the price this light is really good. April 6, 2013

Great Product I tried more expensive solar spotlights and was never satisfied, so I was skeptical about the performance of the SUNFORCE because of its low price. I mounted the light on a shed that I do not have power to, and it works great. After tweaking the controls over a few nights I have the light working flawlessly. The manufacturer was also pleasant to deal with. I broke the solar panel mount, and they are sending me out a replacement free of charge. Great product. I plan on buying a few more of them to light up other areas on my property March 19, 2013

sunforce solar light 60 led i mounted the sunforce motion 60 led light to the side of the house and it works perfectly. it gives me the right amount of light that i am satisfy with. also somehow the wire came loose from the light and my son with the lawn mower cut the wire. i thank the company sunforce for sending me out of courtesy a new solar panel. i also thank northern tool for dealing with honest and reputable companies. Initial Review I ordered the product after reading all the reviews and it arrived promptly. My current installation (not pretty the way my wife would like it) has the unit so that it will light part of my driveway as well as the entrance to the house. At night the direction of the motion sensor and the sensitivity is set so the light will come on when pulling in the driveway or walking out the front door, but not when a car is driving down the road. In the 2 months I've owned it, this unit has met all my expectations. The light is bright enough to provide adequate light for the driveway (my wife's desire) and triggers when I desire it to. I have not yet seen any LEDs burn out. I plan to purchase a second unit to place at the end of my driveway shining toward the house to provide additional lighting. For me, the ability to place this where I want to without running wires is a definite bonus. I do have the current unit in a location where it gets 4-5 hours of direct sunlight right now. I'll be monitoring it during the coming winter to see how it holds up. November 13, 2012

Solar garage light My wife wanted a motion activated light just inside the garage that would turn on when she stepped through the door. I didn't have access to any power, but there is a window not to far away that I was able to run the solar panel quite a distance away from the light. Easy to install, works great and the adjustable time the light stays on is great to have enough light to get to the garbage cans or the workbench and back inside before the light turns off. Motion Detector solar light I purchased this light last Spring ('12) and didn't get around to installing it until late summer. Installation was straight forward and easy. After letting the light charge outside for a day and a half I turned the toggle switch to "auto" and the light came on in full sunlight! No matter how I turned the adjustment settings the light remained on. I called the help number listed in the instruction manual and was told that the light was defective and should be returned to the manufacturer. I had to find the invoice from Northern to get the sales info and then I called the manufacturer back only to get voice mail. I left what pertinent info I had off of the invoice (as I had been instructed to do) and waited for either a box in the mail or a call back . After two weeks I had heard nothing so I called back again and left another voice mail. It's now been over a week and I still have seen and heard nothing. Pretty lousy service! Now I'll see if any body at Northern reads this and gets back to me... October 11, 2012

Better than expected We had a skunk problem in our small apple orchard and this light has been very effective in scaring the little buggers off. It has just the right sensitivity to come on when they move near it, and gives off plenty of light (at least with solar charges through September) to be effective. October 9, 2012
