Roughneck Hose Reel Cart - Holds 400ft. x 5/8in. Hose
This reel is easy to use to wind up the hose. It holds a lot of hose. The windup crank is higher so that you don't need to bend down to the ground to wind the hose. With the no-flat tires and the strong frame, it will last a long time,

Jury Still out
I've had the hose reel for approximately a month. It is stored inside so I cannot comment on the paint job holding up in the weather. It assembled fairly easily. The hardware seemed a bit soft in quality. There should be 4 bolts to attach the handle for strength, but there's only 2 bolts. It would be nice if the reel had a lock to prevent it from unraveling due to weight of a nozzle. A second slot in the handle's cross piece would be handy for securing that nozzle (while still attached to the hose). I'm impressed with it so far, but it's still too soon for a thorough review.

Best Hose Reel available
When I received this product it was easy to put together and I had it up and using it in 40 minutes. I installed a total length of hose of 250 feet and had no problem with it holding that length. It is easy to move if necessary and the hose winds easily back up on the reel when you are finished with it.

Tires that won't go flat. Brass fittings. Powder-coated.
It was easy to put together and it operates nicely. Easy to wind hose. doesn't tip over. Can't ask for more that that. I can't think of anything wrong with this product.

Time will tell
Easy to assemble; I really like the solid tires. Time will tell if rotary joint holds up without leaking; both of the ones I bought were not centered very well and may cause rapid wear. So far, so good for leaks.

best hose reel/cart I've found - could be better..
You'll never get 400' of hose on this reel. I own one at my house, and one of their wall mount reels in my barn. They are the best hose reels I've seen. I bought one for work, and put (3) 100' Gilmour Flexogen hoses on it. These are thick, 8-ply, heavy duty hoses. 300 ft fits on there fine, but I think there is no way you will get 400 ft on one of these reels. I coil very neatly and orderly and 300 fits nicely. No one else coils the hose neatly, and they are lucky to get 300' on the reel. I had to call Northern tool today concerning my reel at home, which is 3.25 years old. The brass elbow on the swivel end is leaking at the seams. They are sending me a new fitting (covered under 7 year warranty). This isn't the quality I was looking for, but it is the best quality I could find. Everything else out there is made of plastic, has plastic tires, has pneumatic tires that constantly go flat, can hardly hold 100 -200 ft of hose, tips over when you unreel, etc. Good luck trying to find a hose reel that can come close to this one. My neighbor bought one after seeing mine, and he loves his, too. It's great to see that Northern Tool has parts available for it also. My neighbor said he was spending $59. every 2 years on one of the cheap plastic ones. He was glad to spend more on one that will last.

Have a nice assortment of nuts and bolts ready
The assembly instructions were clearly missing some steps. If I had followed them to a "T", I would never have gotten the thing together. Some fasteners were missing, and some pieces shown pre-assembled were not, and the associated fasteners for those pieces were missing as well. The basket had some non-functional dents from rough handling.
Having said that, and after donating my own ingenuity and some nuts and bolts from my own supply, I was able to get the thing together and it works as advertised. Having a metal and brass hose caddy on real rubber wheels certainly beats the plastic thing it replaced.

Great Hose Reel
Well built and sturdy hose reel. The best feature is the flat free tires, you never have to worry about them. I have a pneumatic tire hose reel cart and the tires are always flat, just replacing the tires on that cart with flat frees would cost 75% of this carts cost. Great deal and well worth the money.

My First Disappointment With Northern Tool
Having made 10 or more purchases from Northern. I was disappointed with the power coated hose reel cart I purchased from them. I have owned several other cheaper priced brands of reels and have junked them because of rust and leaking problems. The one from Northern has been outside for about three weeks and the powered coating is rusting already. I use it almost daily and do not put back in the garage. The construction of the reel appears to be very good. It pushes easily and the reeling in of the hose is excellent. But the way this paint is looking, it will look just like the old one in about a year.
