Details:

I have been told that using the ProCom Dual Fuel Vent-Free Blue Flame Garage Heater - 30,000 BTU, Model# MD300TGA - in my garage will produce excessive moisture and tools etc. . . .etc . . . will rust.

Please advise on this issue.

This vent free heater will produce some moisture, it would not be enough to rust out any tools.

all gas stoves produce moisture, moisture will migrate to the coldest places in the buildings ie windows or closets that have an exterior wall. Most problems with moisture can be solved by using ceiling fans to regulate heat in all rooms by circulating the air and leaving closet doors partially or fully opened, Learned all of this the hard way when trying to save fuel bills on my ventless gas fireplace, we kept the upstairs guest bedroom door closed and the window sills and closed closet exterior wall side had severe mold. It was bad because we never went in the room for 3 months. Bleach took care of the mold and keeping the doors open and ceiling fans on low speed helped tremendously- you may find that only the windows in the garage promote condensation. You should not have problem with tools as they will constantly be at room temperature.

The thermostat will work without power as the thermostat does not require electricity. The blower will not operate without electricity but the heater will still operate without the blower.

Yes these units are electricity free, unless you add a blower. Set the desired temp you want and forget about it. I do not add a blower to my units since we live someplace that the power frequently goes out. These are the best way to keep your house warm other than a wood stove, but that is so much extra work.

How close can I park beside unit?

Details:

Narrow garage area and was wondering: if you install at the 18 inches off the floor on the side of the garage - any concerns about how close the mirrors or doors of a car would be to the unit? Should I worry about how much heat is coming off the front of the unit causing paint to bubble?

If you can FULLY open your car doors inside the garage, you are plenty far from the heat source to avoid damage to the vehicle. Remember, this is an open flame source, no fuel vapors. Gas cans should not be stored in the same area as this heater is used.

A lot of heat comes off the top of this unit so I would make sure to have at least two feet between the heater and a parked car. I mounted mine higher (about three feet high).

You need to be sure that you have the heater mounted to the proper height off the floor of 3 feet. Then if you are operating the heater your vehicle should be a minimum of 2 feet away from the heater.

Why the need for a 100 pound tank? I wish to use this in my cabin where I only have 30 pound tanks. Thanks.

Details:

My CC&Rs for my cabin only allow for maximum of 30 pound propane tanks.
The 30 pound tank is filled to the same pressure as a 100 pound tank so I don't see why it would not work.
I am a heating engineer.

A 100 pound tank is required due to the cold weather slowing the pressure of the propane down. The flow becomes minimal as the molecules expand in the cold. A 100 pound tank adds additional pressure to allow for proper flow.

I WAS NOT OPTIMISTIC THAT THIS LITTLE GUY COULD DO THE TRICK BUT IT HAS WORKED GREAT FOR THE PAST YEAR. I'M SATISFIED. Great heater for 2 stall garage. I have an insulated 2 stall garage. I installed this heater on the back wall running a propane line from a 100lb LP tank using the mr heater 11 - 14wc(2lbft) regulator. I was able to figure out what I needed from the product description and Q&A. (however you should not put a product placement in the Q&A with a product it does not work with *mr heater thermostat*) The high today is 20*F outside. I leave the heater on setting 1 and it keeps my 22x24 attached garage at about 50* F If I kick up the thermostat it can easily heat my garage to 70 + degrees. I would recommend using this in conjunction with a wall mounted fan, or the blower in order to move the heat around a little better. March 13, 2013

Heat in a snap! I purchased this item when my furnace went out and needed to heat my house for a cold Minnesota weekend (forecast = low of -22 and high of -2). It was easy to set up and I didn't even need to run out for any pieces. Just bought it with the accessories; blower, legs and adapter hose. My 1200 sq. ft house went from 50 to 75 degrees in 12 hours. Just set it near the furnace with the fan on. Best part is, once we get the furnace replaced, I'm installing this bad boy in the garage connected to a thermostat so when I get up on Sat and Sun to work on the Jeep TJ it will be nice and toasty. Heats my entire moto shop Hi, I just installed this yesterday evening in about an hour or so. I have a 24x42 floor space, block construction, insulated 12x17 garage door, with 13.5ft ceiling in my motorcycle shop. This unit heats it very well, in fact write now I have it on the 2 setting to maintain a nice cozy work area and office. After start up I did get some oder for the first 10hrs or so, but now I don't smell anything after 12hrs of running. I rigged my own fan and deflector to direct air downwards. I also have a loft in this shop which is a place for customers to hang out. The loft is very cozy. I would buy another one in a heartbeat!! thanks, :) December 10, 2012
