IN MY OPINION...i did not see a huge difference having the blower vs. not having it. The procom blower is just a 50 CFM. I noticed that turning on the ceiling fans throughout my home helped pull the heat to the needed areas. I rarely even turn the blower on.

You'll probably have to contact the manufacturer ProCom to get weight loading information.

The mantel measures approximately 16.25" wide so it should work with one of the flat panel types of TVs.

However the better solution would be to buy a wall mounting bracket rated for the weight of your TV and mount it above the fireplace. This would be a more secure and much safer installation than having a heavy TV balanced on top of it. I don't have young children living with us or visiting grand children but if I did this would be a BIG concern for their safety if the TV was just sitting on top of the fireplace.

The fireplace will generate 120 degree temperature of heat out of the top vents. You should check with your TV manufacture to determine if it can withstand that much heat. The mantel itself does not carry a weight capacity and the manufacturer would not recommend placing a large TV on the top.

No, this is only for a supplemental heat source. Since the unit can lower O2 levels in your home, it is recommended for use as a supplemetal source or during an emergency outage. Make sure you install a CO detector as well!

It's made of a type of compressed wood with a laminate veneer. However, the veneer is thick enough so that the wood grain is visible.

So in answer to your question is "yes" its both wood and wood products.

All in all, it's a great looking piece of furniture. My wife really likes ours in medium oak which is in my opinion a light oak finish.

There is not a current UL listing that approves vent free gas or propane heaters. This heater is approved for sale in the state of Minnesota. It is the responsibility of the installer to check local codes and ordinances before installing this or any heater, as the requirements can vary.

Answers

The pilot flame does stay on unless you turn the rotary valve/switch to the "OFF" position at which time the pilot flame will extinguish. I would recommend turning the pilot flame off if you're leaving the house for any amount of time but make sure you turn the rotary valve/switch to the "OFF" position. In addition to this, I also 'close' (turned off) the exterior gas valve as an extra measure of safety.

Awesome Fireplace I spent 2 years looking at a seperate heating source for my semi-finished basement. Once I found this unit, I did a fair amount of searching on the web to see how safe vent-free fireplaces really were. There is mixed opinion. In light of everything I read, I opted to get this unit as it has an oxygen depletion sensor. This unit was easy to install and now provided the added warmth I wanted. Just to be safe, I added 2 carbon menoxide sensors to the basement. I am happy to say, that after almost 2 years of use, we have had not issues and the fireplace looks awesome. The only thing that I wished that I had purchased was the fan. But unfortunately too many reviews said that it was noisy so I skipped it. To circulate the air, I have a room fan sitting on top of the fireplace. April 23, 2013

Remote Thermostate We love ours, but I am disappointed in the remote. There is too much of difference in temperature from when it turns on and off. 2 degrees each way from where it is set. Also to turn the temperature down you have to click all the way up to 95 and then up from 45. This seems like like excessive use of the remote. It seems like there should be a way to go up and down with the adjustment. The fireplace works fine otherwise and seemed like quality workmanship and materials. December 26, 2012

Gas fireplace We purchased one of these gas fireplaces for our family room addition. It is perfect for this room as it is on the north side of the house and winters in Maine can be very cold. It easily heats this room and the thermostatically controlled remote means even comfort throughout the coldest nights. It is economical and easy to run own and install. Very Pleased I must admit that I hesitated purchasing a gas fireplace on line. After reading all the reviews I decided to take a chance and purchase it . I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product. The wood does not look cheap and assembly was not bad at all. My daughter and I actually put the mantle together ourselves! It puts off instant heat and warms my whole upstairs in no time at all. I am very pleased with my purchase and wish I would have done it long ago!
