With more speeds, more power and more capacity, the W1668 becomes an effective tool for heavy use. the table is supplied with a clearance hole for use while sanding. This clever design incorporates a dust collection port so that sanding is less messy. Details:

So this is a drill press for making holes in wood, and also sands? How does the sanding work? Does the chuck area oscillate to sand and is there a sanding drum or similar that goes in the chuck?

This drill press is equipped with an oscillating spindle, and uses the included sanding drums that attach directly to the to the chuck to complete sanding duties.

Impressive I ordered this to kill two birds with one stone. I am making guitars in my retired days. Needed an accurate drill press and oscillating spindle sander. This gives two for the price of one. I am truly impressed with the heavy cast iron base and large work table. The machining accuracy is impressive. Don't expect one of those little bench drill presses at the home improvement store. "Some Assembly Required" This was a piece of cake. Heavy but went together perfect. The instructions say there are lag bolt included for bolting to your bench. They were not included but not a deal breaker here. Everything works smoothly. It is very quiet and the oscillation is silky smooth. I was actually expecting stamped metal and lightweight. Nothing lightweight here. The specs say shipping weight 127 lbs. Reality is 170 lbs. Heavy duty. I am very impressed. Let's hope it runs for years. October 22, 2010
