"I had bought one of these last year at Christmas for my husband and he just loves it. It is the most handiest powerpack that we have ever owned. We liked it so much that I bought another one this year for my son for his birthday. My son does alot of riding 4-wheelers and has a Mud truck and uses it quite of bit. My husband and I had taken our grandkids for a weekend camping and while we were there someone next to us was having trouble with their van and their battery would not turn the van on. We watched while a few people tried with other vehicles but they could still not get it to turn over. I suggested to my husband to go get the powerpack and see if it would work. So he did and the minute he connected it to the van it started instantly. The family was so amazed that they wanted to know where we had bought this. We explaned that we bought it from Northern Tools and are very proud to be owners of this product. I would recommend every car to carry one of these in their vehicles."

AC adapter? Does that mean that there is not a AC plug but a adapter that must be used for AC power?

No, the AC adapter that is mentioned in the specs is supplied with this unit to charge the battery. For AC output, there is a 120 volt ac outlet on the front of the unit that can be used with no special adapter.

Answers

Yes, this NPower power-pack can be charged through the 12 volt cigarette lighter adapter with a solar panel setup.

With that said...it is going to take a long undetermined time to charge using solar power, and it is not recommended to charge using the 12 volt adapter because there is no protection function to prevent the battery from damage.

Now if you charge using the AC adapter that is included (120 volt) it is equipped with the protection function.
