"I put 2 of these on my boat. One for the trolling motor battery and one for the starter battery. Before when I went to Canada fishing for a week my trolling motor battery would need charging in the middle of the the week. Now I can use it all week without recharging it. They work so good I bought 4 more to give as Christmas presents fo my relatives."

"I bought two of these awhile back. I have one hooked to a generator in my shed. The other I keep attached to my GMC Yukon which doesn't get used too often. Before I had these I was always jump starting the truck and pull starting the generator. That is no longer a problem with these maintainers. Just make sure you have a fully charged battery, hook it up and make sure its pointed somewhere where it can get some good sunlight. It's that simple!"

"I now own 5 of these small, easy to use battery chargers. I have one on my boat 24/7. It charges even in winter when our boat is tarped. I use one on our RV which is in storage for 4-5 months at a time. I have them in my garage keeping acouple spare batteries topped off 24/7. Both RV and shop solar chargers are each keeping two batteries ready to go. When we travel away from home 1-2 months at a time, I use them on any vehicles left parked in the driveway. Bottomline: I get an extra 2-3 years out of every battery, and never have had a dead battery since I started using this great tool. I recommend them to friends all the time."

"The charger is use in a boat. It will keep it fully charged when the radio and depth finder are left on by mistake. We covered the boat after an outing, went back 2 weeks later to find both of them still running and enough battery power to drop the motor into the water and start. I would reckomand this product to anyone who has a boat or car that may sit for any period of time. It's so easy a childdo can do it, you just plug into the cigerette ligther and leave it alone, or you can clip it to your battery with hardware included, again i would reckamand this product to everyone."

"Even under the roof of the equipment shed the farm tractors batteries are always fresh, direct light not required, I recommend this product to anyone that has batteries that are not run every day. Never though leave them out in the weather unprotected."

"I use the solar battery maintainer for my jet ski and it works great. I don't get to use the ski as much as I would like, but when I want to use it the ski is ready to go, don't have to get the large charger out , battery is always in top shape"

"I have a vehicle that has a grounded wire somewhere. It would slowly discharge the battery over an extended period of time. Until I can find the ground I started using this solar charger. It keeps the balance and the battery has been staying charged."

"I purchased the Battery Maintainer exclusively for that purpose. Whenever my vehicle is parked the solar collection panel is atop my dash doing it's job.
My vehicle's battery will be five (5) years of age in December 2010. It has endured the Mid Atlantic region's harsh winters that take their toll on the vehicle's battery.
My car cranks-up every time. You could not ask for a better product that can be used on anyting else that will permit a charge!."

No. As a workaround, I used the plastic packaging the unit came in, sealed it with unit inside and leave it connected to mower outside. Works well.

Solar trickle charger for batteries

I have a 10kw generator with battery. it always needs a charge can I use this on a constant connection to the battery to keep it from always being charged. the battery it self is in its one compartment of the generator

Yes, this maintainer will keep the battery in your generator in good condition so that it is ready to go when you need it. It can stay connected all the time without causing damage to the battery. It will not over charge. The use of the ring terminal set that is posted in the product recommendations will make an easy way to connect and disconnect the maintainer. See link below for details.

Will the solar panel work through tinted glass?

My Ford Excursion SUV sits parked in a carport with only the back of the vehicle exposed. The rear glass is tinted however so I'm wondering if it will still charge okay? Also, is there an extension cord available for the cigarette lighter option so I can place the panel in the back window and plug it into the dash? Thank you kindly in advance! Graham

While it is possible for this unit to work through tinted glass, it may not provide the advertised 1.8 Watts.
At this time we do not offer extension cables for this unit, however it could be plugged into one of the auxiliary power ports near the rear of the vehicle.

Can this be used to keep a BIG TRUCK(Semi) battery charged?

I was thinking about buying these for my brother-in-law & step Dad for Christmas. They both are OTR Truck Drivers. With big trucks, there is usually a lot of times a need to jump start, especially in winter months. This would be very helpful if they work with BIG TRUCK batteries. Thanks

Yes, this unit could be used on truck batteries, however I would recommend using a panel with a higher wattage output and a charge controller because of the higher power requirements of a battery bank in a semi. See link below for more details.

However, this unit is not for outdoor mounting, I would use the NPower powersports charger due to it being water resistant.
