Living in a rural area, it is so reassuring to know when someone is pulling into our driveway. Product has performed beyond expectations!

We love it!
We've had our Mule driveway alarm for 4 years and love it. I have yet to change the batteries, and have no issues with the volume...we don't have it turned up all the way.
The only issue we have is that it will false alarm once every couple of months.
The transmitter is installed about 100' from the receiver and only has one wall to go through.

Reliable unit, range not as expected
I have two of these units for a long circle drive. The two transmitters are about 150' from the house, with two receivers in the house, one on the wall nearest the transmitters and another about 30' farther away. The nearest receiver alarms every time a vehicle passes either transmitter. The receiver farther away alarms only about 30% of the time. The 400' range advertised doesn't come close in my installation. Other than the range issue, I really like the units, they work fine in extremely cold weather and the battery life in our climate is about 6 months (2 AA batteries). I wish the receiver had a set of dry contacts that I could hook to my alarm system to log vehicle entries.

Works as advertised
I bought this to replace an existing unit that was falling apart.
It's important to note that the sensor needs to be buried next to the drive. More work to install than an above the ground version BUT it's much better at preventing false alarms. (High winds would occasional trigger falsely I suspect by jiggling the above the ground unit.) Our installation is about 200 feet away from the house in a rural setting. It's primary purpose is to notify my wife of deliveries as she owns and operates a pre-school/daycare in our home.
We haven't experienced any problems with the volume of the alarm and have, in fact, turned it down from it's maximum setting. I will point out that it is use in a large open area so we don't need to hear it through walls. I can hear it upstairs on the weekends when someone comes up the drive.

Bought to monitor very long dirt drive. Did test to maximize distance and then had to relocate 25 ft closer to compensate for the burial of sensor. So keep this in mind if going for max distance of coverage.
Works great. Loud alarm inside can be hear through out the house.

VERY WEAK and inaudible
The product does work..abt 75', no prob. Howver is is weak and inaudible. One TINY beep...less than a microwave button beep...thats it. Simply cannot be heard with any conversation, HVAC running etc. AND after I called...no way to increase it or attach to a bell, siren etc. Very disappointed.

Mighty Mule Wireless Driveway Alarm, Model FM231
I placed the reciever in a room in the house (framed construction) with the sensor located where i needed it at 300 feet away. The reciever would not alert so I kept resetting and moving the sensor closer until it was located at 100 feet and it still diid not recieve the signal. It was when I moved the reciever to a line a line of sight location did it work. The unit worked fine at the orginal distance but a line if sight location is not acceptible for me so I returned the item with no issues.

OK but could be better
I needed something that would let me know when a vehicle came up my driveway. It does signal when a vehicle approaches. However, the audible alarm is simply not loud enough(mine is adjusted for maximum) and the alarm should signal for say 10 seconds before shutting off instead of two beeps.
Pros: Easy Install
Cons: Not loud enough, audible signal could be longer
