Using a dependable Honda GX160 engine with Oil Alert™, this NorthStar® high-pressure water pump is ideal for sprinkler systems, remote area firefighting and washing down equipment. Uses standard NPT threads for attachment flexibility. NorthStar uses long-lasting, high-end silicon carbide seals that are specially suited for heavy-duty applications. Fully welded frame with durable DuPont® Black Wrinkle TGIC Polyester electrostatic finish holds up to jobsite abuse and protects engine and pump. U.S.A.

North Star High Pressure water pump,

"Over the years I have tried several different pumps for watering my lawn and garden.
I live next to a river which is 97' below where my home is located and about 450' away. I purchased this pump in May of this year. I am pumping through a 2" hose with a fire nozzle on the end of the hose. I was pleasantly surprised at the pressure and volume that this pump can put out. I have roughly 15 hours on the pump and by my calculations, I have pumped over a 100,000 gallons of water.
Needless to say I have one of the best gardens, and the greenest lawn in
town. I am the envy of the town. Thank you for a product that does what you say it will do

"Starts the first pull every time. We push this pump to the MAX and it keeps delivering. Have owned for 8 months now and its seen five states worth of hard 8-12 hour days 7 days a week work. It's like Mike Rowe says, "Sometimes it just works." This puppy works every time. A+ from me."

"Pump works good. Engine runs smooth & quite. Built well.
Starts easily. Easy to prime. Use pump to irrigate 12 acres. Runs two - 160 ft. diameter field sprinklers at 1/4 throttle. Made a manifold and split into two - 1 inch lines. Not real heavy, I can lug it out to the pasture fairly easily by frame supports. Suction is suspended off bottom of small pit fed by ditch. Recommend suction screen. Great pressure. Perfect pump for my purpose."

Would it damage the pump if the discharge was connected to a manifold & split into (2) 1 inch lines W sprinkler? How far will pump move clear water?

Answers

The pump would be able to be connected to a manifold splitting it into two separate 1" hoses without damage to the pump. There is not a limit on the distance that this unit can pump water on a horizontal plain. If the water is being pumped up hill the maximum rise that the pump will be able to push water is 214 ft.

That all depends Ditchh20. It would not hurt the pump if it was split but it would hurt the pump if you dead-headed it. I would be more concerned with the sprinklers handling the PSI than I would be the pump to be honest with you. Also, the pump will push clear water pretty far. It is impossible to answer your question to 100% without knowing more about the area, its geography, and its elevation swings.

Will this pump handle a small solid that would pass a standard strainer which is approximately 1/8"

This pump is not made to pass solids of any kind. The strainer that is included with this unit is sufficient to keep these solids out of the pump, however care should be taken to keep the inlet away from the bottom of the water source so that this strainer does not become clogged.

Minimum Flow

Details:

I want to use this pump as a fire fighting pump with a medium sized storage tank as the water source and a fire hose on the outlet. For 1 man operation I will occasionally have to shut off the hose without stopping the motor. To solve this problem I want to use an auto recirculation valve to recycle the water back into the tank when the hose is shut off. What is the minimum flow for this pump with the motor at full throttle? What valve would you recommend?

The minimum flow for this pump is 1370 gallons per hour. At this time we do not offer a valve that will recirculate automatically at a given pressure. I would recommend that you contact your local irrigation specialist to find such a product.

For this NorthStar pump, we can not recommend deadhead specifications because it would damage the pump in many different ways, we do not even recommend reducing the hoses to a smaller diameter because it would even damage the pump.

im am pumping water out of a holding tank 15' above ground level and 10 in the ground ( tank is 25' long buried 10' ) thru a 2" hose 80 ft to a 1 1/4" sprinler head watering an arena will the pump hold up the the pressure required to shoot the water and cover the 160' radius?

Answers

The impeller on this unit is enclosed. This pump has a maximum suction lift of 26' so it will be able to draw water all the way from the bottom of your holding tank. The distance that you are pushing the water will not make a big difference in the flow of the pump unless you are pushing the water up hill. This pump is capable of pushing a stream of water 160 ft with the proper setup. Contact your local irrigation specialist for information specific to your application.
