Can this product be sprayed on larger items that can't be dipped?

Details:

I have a 10 foot wide iron gazebo that needs to be refinished.

Answers

You could not spray it on and leave it as this is a water based product. It would evaporate. It could be done if you had a continuous spray going. You could also soak a towel in the cleaner and put it on the product to clean then cover with plastic to keep it wet.

Not really. It needs to be submersed. But if you can build a narrow frame of 2x4 and plywood, and line it with plastic, you can immerse sections that way.

Otherwise, you would be better off buying a cheap sandblaster.

Answers

The Evapo rust will hold or absorb 1/2 pound of dry rust per gallon. When the liquid color has turned to a really black color then it is spent and needs to be discarded.

You can reuse it till it stops working. Mine is a year old and is still working fine. A lot depends on how much rust you put into it. It does not seem to have a shelf life as far as I know. My first bucket was a couple of years old when I dropped a heavy lathe steady rest in too hard and it poked a hole in the bottom of the bucket. I did not realize it until I opened it the next day and the liquid was gone.

This Evapo-Rust is not designed to be used in a parts washer. It is effective for removing rust on items that can be placed in the 5 gallon bucket and left to soak till rust is dissolved.

R.E: Portable fuel tank

Details:

I have a 140 gallon steel fuel tank that is rusted on the inside. Can I dilute the evaporust with 135 gallons of water to fill the tank in order to soak it? The tank is baffled and I don't have any way to access the inside.

No, this 5 gallons of Evapo-Rust is intended to only have parts dipped in the bucket directly, it is not approved to be used as a concentrate.

It works if you dilute it but the best answer is to put a gallon in it and then roll the tank occasioally... Give it enought time and it will take the rust right out. If the rust removal process seems to be slowing down then change out the evapo-rust in the tank and continue. I have had to leave really rusty items with heavy scale in it for 2 weeks.

Works as described! Does the job! Just soak it and wait a day or 2 depending on how rusty it is and it removes just the rust. Easy clean up! May 7, 2012

Works great Bought 5 gallons of this a couple of years ago to remove rust from an old machine tool. It works every bit as well as they say. I keep the 5 gallon bucket handy and when I find a part or tool with rust, I just drop it in the bucket. When new, it only takes a hour to remove the rust, but you can leave it in for a month or more without damage. After 2 years of using the same 5 gallons, it is starting to take longer to remove the rust, so I am here to get another bucket. One caution. You can remove rust from "blacked" or "blued" items, but since these finishes are really a type of rust, it will strip the blacking or bluing off. Ok if that is what you want, or the item has rusted in spite of the blacking. October 29, 2011

Absolutely Amazing !! I was skeptical about how well Evapo-Rust would work but I had a BMW differential that was going to be scrapped due to the extreme rust on the outside surface and thought it was worth a shot. I submerged the diff housing in the liquid and forgot about it. 7 days later I remembered it and removed the diff housing. I was amazed !! It had completely "eaten" the rust from the housing and it looked like brand new cast iron !! I have since used it to restore brake calipers, steering knuckles, and other rusty components with awesome results ! Great product that does way more than it says it will do ! March 14, 2011

EVPORVER I wasn't sure of how this product would work since it is enviromentally friendly. I have found that may products that are enviromentally friendly do not have the power to do the job. That is not the case with this product. Evapo- Rust does the job. I had a heat transfer module that was rusted very badly. I took a five gallon bucket of evapo rust and immersed the heat exchanger in the solution. Within in one day the solution had turned completely black and 99% of the rust was removed from the exchanger. I did have to order another 5 gallon bucket to finish the job but considering having to buy a new heat exchanger that was a steal of a deal. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to get rust off fast...... June 1, 2010
