  1. does button stay down on its own or do you have to hold it?

    1. The button is a rocker switch that stays in either ON or OFF until you press it the other way. You do not have to hold it.

    1. No, I use mine for pumping water all the time.

    5. it is all plastic and pressurized by the battery power. nothing to corrode. very similar to kerosene transfer tubes you buy in a store, just has battery to power it to a consistent and automatic flow.

  5. I was wondering about how safe it is to transfer gasoline through a battery operated device.

    1. This runs on 3VDC and the liquid containing parts are well separated from the motor. I've used them for years with no problems.

    2. The fuel never comes in touch with the motor or anything electrical. The pump itself is isolated so it is safe. Just don't smoke or use a cell phone while pumping gas!

  6. Pump out of Car fuel tank?

    Can you pump out of a Cars fuel tank to fill a generator?

    1. It depends on the cars fuel tank. Most newer cars are designed to prevent pumping. The nonflexible tube must be able to be placed in the tank. I have used up to 5 feet of 1/2 inch clear plastic tubing attached to the flexible tube of the pump to reach and fill another tank.

  7. Can it transfer oil from a turkey fryer? What temperature would be safe?

    1. Pumps 5w40 motor oil without a problem, so vegetable oil should be a snap. As far as temp, I clean mine with warm/hot water, and have not had any issue. I doubt you would have a prob unless it was hot enough to melt plastic or the internal seals.

  9. Is the end of the suction hose,tank end, weighted so it does not curl up?

    I have a fuel/gas tank that lays "flat" under the flooring of my Center Console Bay Boat. To access the tank, there is a round hatch in the deck. Then I have to remove the fuel sending unit in the tank.The tank itself is about 6" in height and when I put my siphon hoses in, I'm afraid they all curl up and loose suction.

    1. The siphon hose is a hard plastic, therefore it will not Curl up. It is about 14 inches long.

  10. Can this be used to transfer something as viscous as molasses?

    1. You would need to warm up the molasses really well, probably would not work very well. Better off finding a different type of pump

    2. This pump is for gas, oil, water but molasses is really thick and can leave a sticky residue which would gum up the pump. Not recommended for pumping something like molasses.
