easy and work great
These are great and simple to use. Make sure you have a compound miter saw for corners.

Great useful option instead of deck rails.
These brackets are a no-brainer if you are building a composite deck, and a excellent choice even if you aren't. That way, the only wood you'd have are the joists and the vertical supports for the bench, which I would recommend being pressure treated. The reddish color of the brackets i purchased are very close to pressure treated wood color too. They also matched farily close to the Terra Cotta TufBoard i used.
The instructions included with these brackets are very good, and even provide the angles you'll need to cut to create a corner bench on your deck. This is helpful since the bench backs tilt backwards slightly along with the 45degree angle for a standard corner. While I did not create a corner, I did have 12 inch spacing of the brackets. I have a little wiggle with the benches, which is acceptable. With a corner, I doubt there would be very much at all. If larger spacing is used or wood was used, it may wiggle a little more, but I feel they are still strong at least to 16in spacing.
As others stated, I did not use the wood screws provided, but I did use most all of the other hardware included. It is zinc coated, but I'm not sure how long it would last in severe weather. For the seating and back area, there are only a few predrilled holes in the seat area. This is smart so you can configure the back and lower leg section however you'd like and not have extra holes showing. I used 3 boards for the back, 2 for the seat, and only 1 behind the knee area. This gives a better view "through" the benches and doesn't compromise the rigidness. It also allows me to push any snow off under the benches.
I had originally seen these brackets in a big chain home improvement store, but Northern Tool has a better price and their support is great too. I was missing 2 bags of hardware from the 14 brackets purchased. After contacting them, I had 2 bags of hardware delivered to me within 3 days.

Deckmate Bench Bracket
I found the bench brackets to install and work as described and shown. The screws supplied will not last and may break under stress so I used stainless steel screws which are more expensive but will not rust. Bench brackets are easy to work with, sturdy and as described and shown. I would recommend these bench brackets as an alternative to constructing wooden benches because of the ease of installation and work as claimed. You can cover the brackets with lattice to match your deck and dress up your finised benches.

Dekmate Bench Brackets
These brackets made a deck reconfiguration project a snap. Took down a railing and added 15ft of more seating area. Made a more comfortable environment for partying.

Dekmate Bench Brackets
I used these Dekmate brackets to build a deck bench that is 12 feet on one side and 11 on the other. I used a smaller spacing on the brackets (16 in) than is called for because I used Trex for the seat and back. I did however use treated lumber for the vertical member of the bench.
The brackets bolt on very nice. I had no issues at all. One curious thing I noticed right away is that there are no screw holes on the front face of the bracket for attachment of the foot kick boards. I called 2x4 basics thinking this was a problem and was told that there should not be any holes in the front. I drilled my own holes for the foot kick board and now I see why they did it that way. It allows for you you to set the boards how you wish.
Great product! I wish it came in more colors however.
