reciever hitch carrier
We purchased this carrier to make it easier to carry a power wheelchair on a 1 ton dodge pick up because the pickup sits high so it is hard to load in the bed. The reciever hitch is also high so the carrier ramp is so steep that some muscle is needed, but it works. I had to redrill one of the fold up pin holes and the little rubber hand grips fell out almost immediatly. It is larlge and heavy so is almost a 2 man job to instal it in the reciever.

Things that are great about it
This carrier is not so heavy that I can't help my husband lift it up onto the hitch of his truck but sturdy enough that it will haul his motorized wheel-
chair which must weigh 300 lbs. or more. My husband is the type of man
who is always looking for something to do and we still run a cattle ranch.
He shouldn't have MS at 40 but he will be 50 this year and is living a good
life. He can load and unload his wheelchair by himself and drive his truck to the shop to work on any vehicle or farm equipement. He can fill up all the stock tanks. He can water his garden. He can go to all the auctions in the area. He can carry his chair to the mountains to fish with friends and go to the baseball games. He can go and do and remain independent and
live a good quality life and be the man God intended for him to be. We love Northern Tool and are thankful we found this carrier which fits in the hitch
of his buddies' trucks also, easy to attach and detach from any hitch on any vehicle, genious! I have even sent him grocery shopping! Thank you!

Great Product
I guess I'm one of the few that uses this carrier for what it was designed for. I bought this last winter to allow me to take my power wheelchair places. The chair weighs just over 300lbs and the carrier seems to handle it well. The ramp is long enough to create a slope that the powerchair can climb efforlesslty (I do need to remove the footrests or they catch the ramp).
I can fold the ramp up and down myself and loading/strapping the chair down independantly is no problem, Even puttng the carrier in its storage position is do-able.
If your a person with a disibilty who's either got good upper body strength or a little bit of help around and, like me, you'd like to take a power chair/scooter places to regain a little more independance don't hesitate to try this out. The independance and freedom this carrier gives me has changed my life.
One thing I will caution about is to be realistic about what your vehicle can handle, the design of any carrier like this puts a lot of strain on a hitch and a great deal of "tongue weight" on your vehicle because of the leveage it creates. I drive a 4x4 half ton and the 300lb chair and carrier are all I think it can realisticly handle, do not expect to carry 500lbs on this thing behind your minivan on a light hitch, you will be dissapointed.

Super Carrier
I recently purchased this carrier after looking at many different styles, never finding one that had the size to carry things like generators or garden tillers. Most carriers are not deep enough to accomodate the width of these items nor do they have a ramp incorporated into them for easy loading of wheel equipped equipment. This carrier is very sturdy and well built.(Note it is not light - about 85/90 pounds ) It even comes with a anti rattle device that keeps the hitch from moving around creating irritating noise on bumps! It was originally designed to carry power wheel type vehicles for those people with disabilities but its design gives you versitility to take care of all your carrying needs with a capacity of 500 pounds it truely should be called the "Super Carrier". I definitely would recommend this product.

GREAT PRODUCT!!!!
Carrier was nicely packaged. Well protected. I purchased this product to carry a 285 pound Lawn Core Aerator. It carries it without a problem. I like that I can drive up to a lawn and fold the ramp down onto the lawn and then easily unload my aerator.

pay it forward
By having this carrier I am able to travel with my snow blower to do sidewalks of senior citizens that my wife & I care for. We first use my plow & then finish up with the blower. Since we only have a Ford Explorer & the blower does not fit in the back this is a great mode to transport it & it makes for an easy on & off with the ramp attachment. With the use of one safety strap it stays secure. The fold up option is great for when I don't need the blower.Well thought out & operates as promised
