This NorthStar® ATV Sprayer with Boomless Spray System is great for applying chemicals to large and small areas. Tank has large fill neck for easy spill free use. Dependable NorthStar on-demand pump. Heavy droplet pattern for minimal drift. Unique broadcast nozzles cover a 40-ft. area with no boom arms to break and have left/right nozzle control. Remote switch to turn on boom from vehicle. NorthStar's proprietary tank design features extra-thick walls that won't bulge or sag. It stands up to chemicals thanks to a special polymer known for its superior chemical resistance. Tank is UV-stabilized to prevent fading and sun damage. Long-hosed spray wand with adjustable nozzle clips to tank when not in use. Rubber isolation feet for reduced vibration and quieter operation. "I cannot recommend this unit. I have replaced the pump unit 3X in short order. In each instance the pressure switch fails after 18-40 gallons sprayed. I have yet to empty the tank twice before the motor and pump go haywire. Customer service is great, Northern has stood behind the product each time it failed and quickly shipped me a replacement.

Shame as the unit is really nicely thought out, but Northern needs to find another pump supplier. I'm returning this for a refund, after investing a lot of aggravation and time into it."

"I put this sprayer on a small pull behind trailer, filled it with water to test it, and went down our road. It emptied at about 1/2 mile and sprayed from one ditch to the other (about 30-40 ft). I was impressed with how much ground it covered. I am going to use it to spray food plots at my hunting club, and believe it will work great. It is also ajustable with cut off valves so you can spray a smaller area, and the wand will spray about 20ft by itself."

"product is great but the pressure gauge is not located in a place to tell the spray boom pressure. I had to make a manifold with a boom on/off and bypass valve to adjust boom spray pressure."

"PURCHASED THIS SPRAYER SEVERIAL YEARS AGO TO MAKE MY OWN SPRAYER SYSTEM AND SAVE MONEY, RETAILERS WANTED MANY HUNDREDS MORE, THIS IS A ATV TYPE SPRAYER BUT I PUT IT ON A CART TO PULL BEHIND A TRACTOR, IT FAR EXCEDED MY EXPECTATIONS, IT CAME WITH A 2.2 GPM PUMP AND I JUST PURCHASED A 5.5 GPM PUMP TO UPGRADE IT. THIS IS A QUALITY PRODUCT AND AT A VERY GOOD PRICE. I RECEIVED IT VERY QUICKLY, AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS UNIT TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BUYERS, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT IT COMES WITH THE LARGER PUMP, I USE IT A LOT FOR AND SAVE EVEN MORE MONEY IN BUYING CONCENTRATED LIQUIT CHEMICALS LIKE FERTLIZER, WEED KILLER (ROUND UP), AND LIQUID TRAZESICE TO GET RID OF THE GRUBS. THIS MAKES IT EASY, CONVIENT AND COST EFFECTIVE, FOR 2 ACRES, THIS IS A VERY GOOD UNIT."

"I orded this spray system for my ATV. First day out the pressure switched failed after about 100 gallons of spraying and one of the screws holding the pressure switch was stripped out. Called customer support and they sent out another pressure switch and pump housing. Received the items in a timely manner and replaced both items. Day 2 of spraying I probably sprayed about 75 gallons when the pressure switch failed again. About this time I am fed up with poor quality of the product. Called customer service again and this time had them send me out a complete pump/motor assembly. I asked the customer service rep to send an extra pressure switch since this seems to be an on going problem. He told me that he could not one out since he was replacing the whole pump, but I could buy one for $20. I received the new pump and installed it on the tank and headed out to finish spraying. I only got through a half tank of spraying when the pump failed again. I would not recommend this product to anyone other than my competitors.

The customer service was good, just the product was not."

I'd like to use this spray rig to "spray to the side." Please comment on the availability of this feature.

Details:

The product data advertises that this spray rig has a 40' wide spray swath. I'd like to be able to turn one side off and only spray to one side or the other, in an effort to spray right of ways, firelanes, etc. I will be using this spray rig from my truck, and not on an ATV, so I won't be able to get into very rough terrain, and I'd like to be able to spray out into areas beyond the road that I'm driving on. Does this boomless spray system allow for that type of adjustability? If one side is turned off, I would assume that the other side would still spray out at least 20 feet. Can you comment more about why I should choose this spray rig considering the type of use?

On this Northstar ATV Sprayer with Boomless Spray System you can "spray to the side" There is a connection on the back of the nozzles there is a "shutoff valve". You can turn one off, etc. You would then spray 20 feet.

Yes, if you cut the valve off on one side it will only spray on the other side. Another feature I like is that if you are using the spray wand, when you stop spraying the pump will turn off by itself and start back up when you resume spraying.

I'm concerned the pump will empty the tank in less than 5 minutes causing me to run out of spray too early or to rush my work. Can you comment?

Details:

If the pump is putting out 5.5 GPM, theoretically, the 26 gallon tank will be drained in less than 5 minutes. Can the pump be "throttled down" to a lower capacity to allow me to spray continuously for 10-15 minutes or more?

Answers

Yes, the amount of flow is adjusted by the spray nozzle. This unit will pump 5.5 gpm when the nozzle is opened all the way and less as the nozzle is restricted creating the cone pattern rather than the straight stream.
