"This pump was everything I need to get my work done in very little time....
Pump works great and very fast as well, you will have to have at leaast a 5/8 hose ....You will need to have a marine battery for the pump....I recomend this pump...."

"I ordered this same pump a year ago for watering shelter belt trees, and it has continued to work flawlessly. I ordered another this year and after 4 hrs the motor stopped and the on/off switch on the power line from the battery burned up. I called customer service, they did not hesitate to overnight a replacement unit but commented that low battery power would cause the unit to burn up. I was told that It is designed to run off of a battery and regulator set up to maintain constant voltage. The previous years pump is still functioning without problem. I am not sure what to make of the situation, but when the pump works, it delivers as advertised."

"I purchased this pump & set it up in the back of a box truck with a 100 gallon tank to feed it water. The pressure that comes from this pump is great! We also use this pump to feed a large pressure washer for on site work as well as other agricultural uses."

Applicatiion of the NorthStar 5.5 GPM 12 Volt Pump,

"I purchased a used 25 gal. ATV type sprayer in great condition. Sprayer had a 1.8 GPM 12 volt pump and wouldn't allow me to reach the top of my 25-30 ft. fruit trees. After reviewing the pumps offered by Northern I selected the subject pump. Mounted the new pump, which fit the tank mounting perfectly, except I added spacers to raise the pump for suction and discharge line clearance. Added all new piping including a 50 mesh inline suction strainer, pressure regulator, agitation line with valve, pressure gauge, discharge valves for spray gun line and spray boom line. The pump performs well getting to the top of my fruit trees while maintaining about 2 GPM@40PSI. I tested the pump delivery by timing how long it took to fill a 1 gallon jug. It was 1 gallon in 30 seconds @ 40 PSI. It does the job. Spay boom works well also. Important note: a suction strainer should be used, between the tank and the pump to protect the pump, when using wettable powder spray material. Very pleased with performance."

Broke on second use,

"I used this pump to spray KNO3 on mango trees to induce flowering. It worked great on the first use. When it worked it had great pressure and flow. I used it for about 3 hours to spray about 80 trees with about 100 gal of diluted solution then flushed the pump well after.
The second time around everything seemed fine. As before, pressure and flow were great. I was using it to spray half the amount of trees and solution. Thirty minutes into spraying, however, the pressure got so high that it blew a 150 psi spray wand. I quickly turned the power off and changed the sprayer. When I turned the switch back on nothing happened. Checked everything and found that the pressure switch somehow got fried.
Haven't yet tried to get warranty service. They don't have great reviews. But a product like this should not give out on its second usage with only 3.5 hrs. work time.
Not Happy with this pump!"

Yes, this pump is approved for use with bleach. As with any pump, running clear water through the pump after each use will extend the service life.

Answers

This NorthStar diaphragm pump has a minimum amp draw of ten amps. While the maximum amp draw is 17 amps. This pump will fit all our NorthStar sprayers.

RE item 2685560-1101 Is the pump preasure adjustable? On at 30 off at 50? Also will it hold up using it to preasurize a 80 gallon preasure tank?

Answers

The Pressure switch on this pump can be adjusted to turn off at 50psi, however the pressure that turns the pump on, is not adjustable. Once the pressure is set at 50psi the pump will turn on and off to maintain that pressure.
While it may be possible for it to pressurize an 80 gallon tank, measures should be taken to ensure that this pump does not overheat as overheating will cause premature failure.
