The RDS Fuel Tank Toolbox Combo is a 90-gal. auxiliary fuel tank with built-in toolbox and 100% aluminum diamond tread plate construction. U.S.A. It is the user's responsibility to comply with local, state and federal requirements pertaining to safe transportation, loading and discharging of tank contents.

were do you mount the pump?

Answers

This style of tank is usually used as an auxiliary fuel tank for the vehicle that it is mounted in. No pump is needed when the tank is used in this manner. The fuel is gravity fed from the auxiliary tank to the existing fuel tank in the vehicle with the use of a diesel install kit. See links below for details.

As the Staff said, it cannot be used with gasoline due to DOT and EPA regulations.

The primary concern of the government when it comes to gasoline tanks mounted in automobiles is the protection of said tank in the event of a crash.

Think about it.

Gasoline vapors can be ignited with the ash of a cigarette.

Diesel, on the other hand, is MUCH less volatile. You can drop that same cigarette into diesel and the diesel will not ignite. It takes an actual flame to ignite diesel due to the temperature of the flame being much higher than the ash of a cigarette.

I've seen this product offered here and elsewhere, and somewhere in the description it always states that it is not for use with gasoline.

This RDS fuel tank toolbox combo is intended for use with diesel fuel, it is not approved for use with gasoline.

Can it be used as a reserve tank, or are there holes drilled that force it to be an auxiliary tank?

Details:

I like the design where the lid covers and secures both the fuel access and the toolbox. I'm hoping that the fuel tank itself is well sealed to allow it to be used as a reserve tank where you pump the fuel out rather than having it gravity fed into the existing tanks.

This tank is for auxiliary use only. It does not have an outlet to install a pump. If you are looking for a toolbox/transfer tank then the item #3490141 would be the one to consider for a 90 gallon tank.

What is the difference between a transfer tank and an Aux tank

Details:

I have a pick up truck and want to extend the range by installing additional fuel capacity in the bed. I would like the system to be able to gravity feed to the truck tank.

An auxiliary tank is used to extend the range in a pickup truck. A transfer tank is designed to transfer fuel by means of a pump to equipment.

aux tank is able to be plumbed into your existing tank while a transfer tank is designed to be used to transfer fuel from it, to your tank or another piece of equipment with the use of a pump

The tank is designed to transfer fuel to your trucks fuel fill hose with the install kit, so there is no way to keep the fuels separate.

tool box fuel tank model 72745 I purchased this unit recently and am very satisfied with it, It was easy to install and looks nice. I would give it a 4.5 rating and the reason for not giving it a 5 is for the following 2 reasons. 1. the latch and lock are to far from the side of tool box making it difficult or imposible to reach from the round, and 2 the corner of the box with the fill should be sealed tight so in the event of a spill it would be contained to this area and easier to clean up. as it is now any spill will run and contanimate anything in the box of the truck.
