Easy Fuel Transfer,

"After I put in a gas furnace I needed a way to get over 100 gallons of heating oil out of my basement tank. The intake hose screen exactly fits the fuel gauge opening. The pump had no trouble, filling two 55 gallon drums in no time at all. The 12V hookup makes it easy to use the pump to fill my diesel tractor too."

"The pump works very good. The only issue that I have, it does not have a pressure shut off switch. When you stop flowing fuel the pump loads up. You must turn off the pump with the switch.
It does meet the needs that I purchased it for. It is a time save and portable. The pump is lightweight and easily moved."

"Purchased the pumpto transfer Bio-diesel from 55 gal. drums to my vehicle. It worked great at first but then stopped working completely after about 300 gals. of transfer. I tried everything to get it to work again (such as checking prime, looked for hose kinks, blockages, etc.) but nothing worked, so after moving it around in the shop for months I threw it away. Maybe it could not tolerate the bio diesel?"

"DON"T BUY Model# FR1614, it somes with a plastic shaft key, I ended up purchasing this product and is a higher quality product. The connects on the pump and hoses don't leak, and the shaft key is metal. When they designed this pump, they knew what they were doing. GREAT FOR PUMPING WVO."

Decent pump, overheats, doesn't duty cycle,

"I have an older version of this pump. I have two models. It is great to have fittings such as the transfer nozzel.

The one complaint I have is that this pump doesn't duty cycle or displace heat. You can run it 15 minutes tops and then must turn it off. I fried the bushings on one of these pumps. Fortunately they are user fixable."

"After using the Norther Tool Diesel Transfer Pump I am totally satisfied. It travels around in my Takeuchi 175 and fills the tank easily and quickly with no trouble. "I was in need of a transfer pump to pump #2 furnace fuel out of a tank in my basement into a tank outside the basement window. I bought the DC 12V fuel transfer pump, hooked it all up and pumped the fuel out in no time at all. I had about a 6 foot lift on the transfer and on problem with that. The local fuel company wanted $80 to do the job. I bought the pump and got the job done in no time and still have the pump to replace my old hand operated pump for diesel tractor fuel. I was happy with the pump and the ease of use getting my task completed. It worked well for me, I glad I got the pump."

Great Deal for the Money,

"Been using this pump to transfer waste vegetable oil for my "grease car" setups. Can't beat it for the price--keeps pumping away, even for cold, thick, floured oil. My only complaint is that the on/off switch was of extremely poor quality, and failed within the first week. It was easy enough to bypass though, and haven't had any problems since."

Details:

My apologies for not being clearer in the early question. By the product description I know that it's a pump for diesel, that is what I am looking for. The tank I would like to use is suitable for either gas (which I won't be using) or diesel. My UTV, by extension of the fact that I am asking about a "diesel" pump has a diesel engine in it. It is a John Deere Gator XUV 850i. My concern is whether this pump will have problems being adapted to any hose smaller than 3/4 of an inch. Will it be able to draw enough fuel to keep it cool and not overheat? Thank you.

The transfer pump is designed for 3/4 hose only, any adaption or modification to the unit would void the manufactures warranty.

This pump is only intended for diesel or kerosene. Northern does sell some pumps intended for gasoline, although, they are not this style. Check out the links attached below...
