Outstanding Drill Press
What a great addition to my workshop. It came packaged very well. Instructions easy to understand. I hade it together in no time. It is very quiet. Plenty of power when drilling with a large Forstner bits. I installed a Mortising assembly on it and it just drilled into the wood like it was butter. Very sturdy with no wobbling. Depth gauge is easy to set and works fine. Very easy to change the belt for different speeds. I've used it to drill through some metal items too. Sure don't use my hand drills like I use to. So much easier to use and more precise. If you are looking for a drill press this is certainly one you need to consider putting in your workshop too. I can only give it a great review since I haven't found 1 thing I haven't liked about it.

Better than expected
Can't go wrong for the money. Speed changes are easy. The only draw back is the track that the tables raise and lower are a bit flimsy. But if you have the skills you can add a couple more screws like I did. Make sure you use the right type screw and counter sink with a small relief.

Great product for the price
Since purchasing, I have used this drill on everything from steel angle iron when modifying my trailer to boaring 10" deep holes in exotic hard wood for a gun stock project. Plenty of power. The 10" deep hole was an interesting challenge because the drill travel is 3" - standard for a drill of this size. If I had to complain at all about the drill it would that the play where the table meets the collumn has a bit more play than the higher end presses, so when you lower it, re-aligning the table to the drill bit took a little more time. But considering the price of this drill press, I'll deal with the minor inconvenience! Great product and a very reasonable price.

Very Nice Drill Press
I purchased this drill at my local Northern Tool in Memphis. The store was very helpful, and matched the internet price. I wanted this Drill because of it's low rpm capability. The bonus with a larger drill press is the ability to use M2 taper shank drill bits, and that makes all the difference. Taper shank bits are worth the extra money, and you will never fight a chuck loosening up. They will also increase your drilling capability, I easily drill 1" holes, but use cutting oil. Nice drill worth the money, I would make sure everything is tightened before use.

good quality
I only use this drill press for wood working. It works great, it doesn't take long to change the speed or set up for different projects. This drill press has a very smooth operation and is quick to respond if I need to back the drill bit out of the work piece. I would recommend this drill press to any one looking for an affordable, high quality piece of equipment.

good buy for the money!
this drill press does require some assembly, but everything went together perfectly. the only thing i don't like about this drill is that there is not enough adjustment in the motor mount plate to freely change your belts on the pulleys for speed adjustment. you can change speed, but you have to roll the pulleys around to change belt placement.

Great Press
This press will hold any drill I need and has enough power to bore any metal piece I need drilled.

Northern Industrial Floor Drill Press—16-Speed
A solid value in a solid piece of equipment. I like the fact that, with 16 speeds, one can select the ideal speed for any operation, and I can see myself using this drill in numerous ways for many years to come. The table moves up or down very smoothly and easily, a special joy for me because with my old drill I had to move the table manually without benefit of a crank or any other mechanical assist. I do some metal work in addition to woodworking, and this drill appears rugged enough for the toughest work in metal.

16 speed 3/4 hp drill press
I bought this press to add to mine shop and fell in love with it. It has the power to drill 1/2 inch metal and runs very smooth. I also like that the motor runs quit. I have it mounted to a mobil base and with a smooth running motor i do not have wobble. i would like to see another smaller chuck to go along with the one that came factory. This would allow it to hold smaller bits.

Best in its catagory
I bought this to supplement a bench-top drill press in my home woodworking shop. I looked at all the 16-speed, 3/4 HP drill presses out there, and this one is the best. It's got a TEFC motor - most don't. It was easy to assemble - most tools (except for a 5/8" wrench) came with it. It was set up perfectly, right out of the box, no adjustments were necessary. I am totally satisfied with it.
