5 speed bench drill press with laser
I found this tool exceptionally easy to put together except for the chuck. Never would I have expected a piece that turns 3000 rpm to be just snugged on a shaft. There are no instructions for this assembly, and I had to go to the computer to find out how this piece was installed. If there is a safety problem with this machine I would think that this would be the area of concern. Other than that I believe this to be an outstanding piece of equipment for home use. I am happy with it.

One Big Problem...
It's a little tough for me to give an honest appraisal of this drill press. The actual construction of the tool is very good...about what you'd expect from a modestly priced drill press. Set up is easy and the tool is quite sturdy. The problem is the motor. I seriously question whether it can actually attain the listed 1700 rpms. The motor's speed visibly and audibly ebbs and flows. It does not provide enough power to drill through the softest of materials with the sharpest of bits. The motor will also come to a complete standstill when only a slight amount of downward pressure is applied to the handle. Perhaps I just ran into some bad luck and got a wonky motor but as is, the drill cannot perform any of the tasks I ask of it. I'm confident the drill will perform better once I install a new motor. However, if this is a common problem with this model you'd be better off spending a few more dollars to get a drill with a competent motor.

Just what I needed
Purchased on sale in April 2012. For the few times that I've used it, I've been impressed. Looking forward to using it more in the future. Good power for the small space it takes up on my work bench.

Fits my need perfectly!
I'm not the kind of guy who uses a drill press everyday, but there's that every once in a while where it's needed. This is just the kind of tool for me. Doesn't take up too much room but just powerful enough to handle even moderate to big jobs. I would recommend if your need is similar to mine.

Solid Bench top drill press
I purchased this item to help make my woodworking projects. It has not let me down, has nice power for a bench top drill press. Have nothing negative to say about it, plan on having years of service from it!

Oh boy what a buy!
What can I say? This drill press is just amazing. That word alone is enough to describe it. But we all want professional reviews. So here it goes.
I needed a drill press to drill through circuit boards. As some know, the drill bits used on them are very hard to find and break extremely easily with just the slightest bend. That being said, I needed a good small but accurate drill press for a good price to drill through the copper epoxy glass material. I purchased this one due to the great price with 2 laser beams.
This drill press is probably the best tool I have ever invested in. It drills well and with great accuracy. Easy to assemble and use. The only thing you may need to look out for is putting on the chuck. The manual did not say anything about it. What you must do is get a rubber mallet/hammer and tap it in. It will never come off after that. I also do not understand why the laser has to be battery powered but it's no big deal, if it works well it works well =D
Overall amazing tool.can handle heavy duty tasks and with ease! Buy it if you want the laser. If not the one without is just as good.

Bench Drill Press at an awsome price
I purchased this Bench Drill Press early in 2010 for working on my muscle car and doing work around the house. Very easy to set up and use and I was pleasantly surprised of how good the quality was. I get all of my tools at Northern Tool, but I usually wait until they are on sale. Being on Northern Tools email list, helps me get the best price.
