Depending on the temperature and the humidity, the water in the reservoir could last anywhere between 2-6 hours. It is recommended that a water supply be readily available or that the water level be closely monitored.

Outdoor Usage

Details:

Would this unit be better suited for outdoor usage, compared to a Misting Fan (18" or 24", TPI or Luma), when using in a potentially humid environment such as Kentucky? I am needing a way to keep a small construction site cooled down in this 100 degree heat for a couple of workers.

The Port-A-Cool Cyclone 3000 would be more ideal for a small outdoor construction site rather then a misting fan. This Port-A-Cooler can help cool approximately 700 square feet. It can lower the air temperature up to 30°F. With higher humidity it may lower the temperature 15°F-25°F.

Cool down the hot summers A friend has a very large Port-a-Cool and recommended I get a smaller unit for my garage/shop. This unit did the trick. It allowed me to work in the garage on projects and my hot rod when it was 100 degrees outside. It is well built, easy to fill and keep filled, moves around with no effort, looks great, and will cool down the outside temperature from 10 to 15 degrees. That is all I needed to allow me to stay in the garage. We have used it on our patio when we entertain and have guesses over. For the cost it was well worth it. I highly recommend this unit or any of the Port-a-Cool units that might fit your need. October 8, 2012

Nice garage toy Works good. I use it in my garage and outdoor fun activities.Very portable. I recommend you always keep a pressurized water hosed hooked up to it. It wont over fill because it comes with a regulator valve. You will be surprised how quickly 16 gallons evaporate and you run the risk of running the pump on dry. My four stars are due to the fact that the power cord has no where to wind up or be held in place while you move the unit around. I will have to improvise with Velcro or something. A little pricey but nothing out there like it so, there you go. August 13, 2012

Good Product Does exactly what it was made to do. Keeps the air cool. I bought it after the flood, as I had to spend many hours out in my shop repairing tools and tractors in the 100 degree weather. The air was so cool, that when soldering wires, I had to turn it off so the soldering iron would stay hot enough! September 14, 2010

Good buy Very effective on exceptionally hot days; nearly equal to air conditioning without the operating costs. Ineffective on humid days, and can actually make the air less comfortable if not exhausted properly. Follow the instructions and you'll be very happy with the purchase. November 18, 2008
