Paumco Products Quick Spade - Model# 1100-Quick Spade
Does the job!
I had some stumps to remove and general light digging projects around the farm to accomplish. I got the quickspade to go on the forks of my compact Case/IH farmall 40 tractor. The product attached easily and quickly. After some fiddling to figure out how best to use the spade, it performed well. I will add that I did end up getting a full-size backhoe to remove my stumps (the stumps were just too big - over 2ft in diameter - so using this spade would have taken months!). But I still use the spade for landscape project near the house where I don't want to compress the soil too much by using the backhoe - or risk destroying my house with a careless flip of the backhoe bucket!

i purchased the Quick Spade for my bobcat 753 pallet forks. I saw the videos and read some of the reviews and was excited about the product. I purchased this for a landscape design job were we contracted to do. We removed 37 trees and approx. 50 shrubs and graded the property. 20 of the trees were large 10-12inch diameter leyland cypress, 12 were large Black Pines 10-15inches in diameter, and the other various trees up to 10inches in diameter.. our soil isnt rocky its mostly topsoil with sand below...this tool was a dream come true, most of the trees i was able to cut under the stumps and then push the trunks over. some of the trees had large roots 6inch diameter and we used an axe of those few and did the rest with the spade. this tool is great for small areas when a bucket is to large, areas with very compacted soil where i would cultivate the soil then scoop with the bucket. for the price this is a must buy. i recommend to everyone with pruduct. GREAT IDEA THANK YOU PAUMCO! only change for root cutting is either weld on some small teeth or cut some slots in the spade to help cut roots....tool goes right on and off no need to hammers.....trust me i put this tool to work, i have the pictures to prove it! goodluck and think smart. This isn't the poor mans backhoe, Its the smart mans!

If you have forks for your tractor, this is a product you should have. I have dug out several stumps with it and no promblems with the steel construction. I have worked it so hard with stump removal, I had to beat the shovel off the forks with a hammer. Its exactly what you would expect by looking at the picture, and tons cheaper than a backhoe attatchment

I bought the quick spade about a year ago. It works great. One of the first things I used it for was digging a 150 foot ditch 2 1/2 feet deep for drainage pipe. It had to snake thru the trees. It did an excellent job of digging tearing thru the roots. It also does a decent job of chopping thru the ice on a frozen driveway. I have recommended it to several friends

Real back saver
Easy to install, easy to use.
If you aren't sure, watch the video on UTube.
I selected this model to mount on forks on my tractor. I think the combo version, mounted on a bucket, would not be a good idea for a tractor. The tractor hood would block too much vision.
It will take a bit of practice to become proficient. It's the kind of tool that may not be used often but exactly the thing to save your bacon - especially when it's 102 outside and you need to dig a hole that won't wait. Bad back? Poor health? You need this.

I run my own landscaping business and just purchased this amazing tool this Spring. I was able to dig and transplant a 2.5" caliper Maple tree with ease in an hour. The spade can also be used to transport burlapped plants on site. I wish I had this tool years ago!

Works as advertised
This is a review of the fork mounted version of the quickspade. I have one on a set of industrial forks attached to my tractor. It is a sturdy and simple piece of equipment that is easy to use. It is very effective at digging trenches and can dig about 4ft deep or more with a width of about 20 inches or so. Digging is not as fast as with a backhoe but if you don't have a BH or don't want to mount it for a small job, this device works very well. I'd guess it digs about 4-5 times as fast as a man with a shovel. You do need to back and manuver the tractor to dump the spoils which is why it is only 4-5 times as fast as a single man with a shovel as he could just flip the dirt aside. I'm not sure I would mount one of these quickspades on light duty clamp on bucket forks as the leverage can get quite high but with a properly supported set of forks it does a fine job. It is useful for trenching, general digging and also as a cheapo tree spade. Well worth the price.
