worth the extra money
Stands did work well when I used them to rotate my son's tires. I did have to enlarge one of holes that you put the cotter pin in as the pin would not fit through one of the holes that is used for a stop.

hein-werner jack stands
I recently bought both the 3 ton and 6 ton models. Quality of the jack stands are excellent. I like the tabs welded on the bottom of the stand. Less likely to sink into asphalt. My only complaint is the angle of the handle or release lever. They are too high. When you pick up the stand by the handle, your fingers are sure to get pinched by the saddle. Also when the stand is in use (with the ratchet locked in position) the handles still sit higher than any other stand I have seen. Makes me constantly double check that they are engaged. Overall a great product , just wish they had a better feel to pick up and look as if the handle is securely set while in use.

The best
Very stable, the design of the top prevents damage that I have seen from other stands. Nicely made and finished. More expensive yes, but after the first set, this has been the one that has seen repeat purchases when we have needed additional stands. Had used 4 other brands first and the deeper V shaped tops on them had caused issues for us even with plastic covers. The broader flatter top on these stands have been the feature we needed.
