Good Quality Overall - Leaked Though,

"This is the second 880A I have owned. The first one I bought 8 years ago. The one I just received from Northern Tool has some changes compared to my older unit. The older unit has a stainless steel ball cock and the 90 degree street elbow connecting the filter to the regulator is stainless steel. The new one has zinc and chrome plated parts. Just as other reviews said, the 90 degree elbow between the filter and regulator leaked as soon as I connected it. I took it off and wrapped with Teflon tape 5 times. Put it back together and it still leaked. If I tightened it more the leak stopped, but then the regulator was at a 45 degree angle. So, I wrapped it 10 times with Teflon tape and it no longer leaks. Thread sealant paste was of no use since the thread gap is too great when the regulator was hanging down in the correct position. Basically, the elbow is a cast iron part that is plated and it is really low quality. On my old unit that same part is stainless with nicely machined threads and a clean flush cut end finish. I guess they needed to reduce costs somewhere. I would suggest they use a union at the filter so the regulator position can be adjusted after the elbow is tight. Overall, still a good quality unit."

"Overall this regulator seams to be well made. But after hooking it up to my air system the only leak was were Sharpe made the connection between the regulator and filter. I'll fix it myself but it's just the idea, they should have pressure tested this before selling it."
