are the runways adjustable from side to side?

If not what is the dimension between the two? will a full size 4 door1/2 ton shortbed truck fit on this lift?

Answers

The width between the runways is 37.5" and is not adjustable. The overall dimensions of the lift is 203 1/2" long and 105" wide. You can check these dimensions on your truck to see if it will fit within these measurements.

I had someone deliver it on a flatbed. They slid it most of the way in the garage, then used the flatbed to slide it in the rest of the way.

One person can do most of the work, but laying the rails will be difficult on your own. I put up the 4 posts myself, then asked 3 friends over for about 15 minutes to put the rails on. The rest I completed myself. I guess about a total of 5 hours all in to put it together. I have read that some people have put it together with 2 people using an engine hoist to raise the rails, so I suppose you might be able to do it yourself with a list but I think the 3 friend plan is the best bet.

What are the bottle jacks for?

Details:

Bottle jacks keep being mentioned, but after a quick review of the manual, I can't find a reference to there use. What are they for, and what size is needed?

Answers

This 4-post lift includes a jack tray that would support bottle jacks. The bottle jacks would be used to raise the vehicle off the upper platform/tracks to remove the wheels for service. This jack tray with bottle jacks are shown in the third picture under the main picture of the item. The bottle jacks aren't included with the lift.

You can use the bottle jacks to lift the vehicle while it's on a hoist--helpful if you need to remove a wheel or two from the vehicle. You can also use a bottle jack while on a separate crossmember between the ramps to lift or support heavy items under a vehicle. Capacity needed depends on the intended use.

How do I compute the minimum ceiling height I will need? I assume that the minimum height will be the sum of the heights of the two cars plus something to account for the thickness of the runway as well as where the locks are located.

Answers

You would need to measure the height of both your vehicles, from the tires to the top of the roof. Then add 7" to that. This will let you know if you have enough room in your garage to make it work.

Yes, it is in one big box. It is about 2 ft by 2 ft by the length of the rails. It is unbelievably heavy, so once it is in your garage, you won't be sliding it around.

Once there, you can start taking it apart in pieces. I would guess the tractor can lift the rails individually.

Stop looking at other lifts and buy this one. I searched for the right lift for about 3 months. This product offers the best price/quality with a bunch of really nice features. I also purchase it through NorthernTool rather than other sites even though it was a little more expensive because I always get great service from them. In the end, this saved me money; I later found out that shipping might have been a problem the other route). I had it delivered on a flatbed directly to my garage from the shipping docks. I have a 1 car garage and wanted to expand it. I have a convertible so I am able to stack 2 cars if I have the roof down. My garage is VERY small (height to rafters 103 in., width 119, length 195 in). I put up the 4 posts by myself and laid out the parts with the exception of the rails. I didn't need an auto lift as some suggested, but I did require 3 friends to help out. It went together very nicely with little problems in about 5 hours total (only 15 minutes needed with the 3 friends). The instructions are a little hard to understand - but do an internet search, there is another version of the instructions on the web as well as a youtube video showing it put together which was a god send. I am very happy with it. It works well, very stable, looks good and gives me the space I need. FYI, I DID NOT screw it down. I run it off regular 110. In fact, off of a 100 ft extension cord connected to a surge protector, so it doesn't require a lot of power (i'll eventually make it a more professional hook up). It does cause the lights to dim, but it never trips the search protector. Complaints: 1) It is rather slow to go up. I suppose about 80 -100 seconds. 2) In tight spaces, it is difficult to hold the safety release and power the lift at the same time. 3) You have to lube the heck out of the posts. Finally got some good silicon spray and now it doesn't moan when raising and lowering. 4) Guard your garage. After I put the car up for the first time, my wife and kids decided they loved the extra space and now, unfortunately, it is a 1 car garage again with a number of bikes and plastic toys underneath. So, the picture you see here was the LAST time it had 2 cars in it. Still, at least they cannot reach the car to scratch it, so there's that. Overall, though, I am very happy and recommend it to everyone. December 17, 2011

Great lift at a great price I bought two of these lifts for extra storage space in my shop. I had them both put together in about 11 hours by myself and, for the price, they're really hard to beat. I'm not sure how they would be for continuous every day use, but for 1-2 times a week they work great. August 23, 2010

A must have for the enthusiast The shipment arrived in good condition, though it was a little challenging to unload due to the lift gate arrangement of the delivery truck. (A loading dock does help due to its weight/length.) Ideally, you should have 12 foot ceilings for two standard height classic cars. Once installed, it is compact, great as a parking solution, and great for alleviating having to crawl on your back to service the underside of your vehicle. I am glad I got it. June 1, 2010

very sturdy, excellent product This is a very sturdy, excellent lift. Went together easily and works perfect. I use it for storage of an extra car in a standard sized two-car garage and it works great. The runners are very heavy and you should be prepared to have an extra hand or two when sitting them in place and also unloading them. February 15, 2010

Danmar D7 Auto Lift Overall a great lift. There were several nuts and bolts missing, also had to enlarge a couple of holes as they did not line up with the safety release rods. Had to find a couple of nuts to use a jam nuts for the safety lock release rod as it would just rotate and not activate the release. I was able to install it in 4-5 hours with the help of a friend and an engine hoist. Overall very happy with the quality for the price. July 19, 2008

4 post lift I recieved the Model #D-7 in good condition. Packaging was very secure and easy to locate all parts. Assembly of the lift was very easy. Directions were easy to Follow. I found the lift to be of Great quality, looks good and operates flawlesly. Thanks for a great product June 13, 2008
