~13 1/2" from the center of the saddle to the "Rise" of the frame which might interfere. It's about 16" from the center of the saddle to the pivot. I hope this helps!

From the center of the 5 in. dia. saddle, to the rear, is 13 in. before any rise higher than the front of the side rails. The side rails are slightly higher than the front wheels and saddle.

Is it safe to remove the two wire / coil retainers at the bottom?

Details:

I was wondering if it is safe to remove the the wire/spring retainers at the bottom of the floor jack since I will be leaving the jack in my garage and won't be transporting it anywhere. I ask because the two points are scratching my driveway flooring. I understand that this was a safety mechanism during shipment and as per the owner's manual, these wire retainers had to be removed before the jack head would even lift up.

The two springs coil attachments are at the very bottom and are at points lower than the jack trolley wheels.

Will there ever come a time that I will be required to re-install these wire/coil retainers at the bottom?

Answers

The wire holding down the yolk assembly is the only one that should be removed. This will not need to be used again unless you would be boxing the unit for shipment. This can be removed by pressing down on the yolk and releasing the yolk slowly after removal. The 2 springs on the unit should not removed.

Those "wire/spring retainers" are used to secure the jack mechanism during shipping. You discard those as per the instructions. The ones I have seen were there to also help the jack fit inside the box/packaging. You should never have to use them again unless you intend to fit the jack back into the box.

Yes, the valve opens with a turn of the handle and the jack will begin to lower. The more you turn the quicker it will fall, so you have to be careful when lowering, but that's like any jack like this. This makes it convenient to lower the car while standing clear.

YES!!! A u-joint with a square shaft is located in the bottom of the jack's receiver that the handle slips into and mates with the square shaft. The handle has a collar, on the end that mates with the shaft, that also has a grove on it's outside that allows for a short threaded bolt. that is in the jack's receiver. to protrude into the handle's grove. The grove is deeper than the bolt protrudes, thus allowing the handle to turn and operate the u-joint connected to the release valve. This allows for the jack ro be pulled around by it's handle while operating the valve with just a twist of the handle. Works better than any I've tried.

Simply turn the handle counterclockwise to lower. The handle fits almost like a socket which is connected to a universal joint, so you can turn the handle no matter the position.

Some reviewers claim the wheels are made of plastic. All four wheel on mine (which was recently purchased) are steel. They are all magnetic which is a property of non-ferrus metals. Dont know of any magnetic plastics.

NO, the saddle is secured down with a threaded plug. The threaded hole is 7/8 diameter. And the dept is a 1/2" deep and there is the lifting arm's reiforcment is at bottom of hole.

I'd like to know if the (Torin Big Red Transmission Adapter for Hydraulic Jack, Model# TRE2001) will work with this floor jack. This jack needs to have a 1-1/8" diameter lift plate sleeve in order for the Torin adapter to work.

Super Quality!! Super Value!! Heavy Duty!! I bought this jack because I needed another jack for the shop. Our heavy duty jack is too tall to fit under my lowered truck without driving it onto boards, and the lowest jack we have isn't strong enough. After a lot of shopping around/homework I decided that the Arcan XL35 was the perfect jack to add to the shop. Not only does it have a super low 3.5" saddle height bottomed, but it goes up over 21" tall too!! AND if you're not rolling it under something super low, the quick-lift gets the saddle right up to what you're lifting in just a few pumps!! BEST VALUE FLAT-OUT!! I'd highly recommend this jack even for the home garage. You're better off AND SAFER having too much jack than not enough!! April 23, 2013

amazing floor jack!!! This jack is great if you have a car that is low to the ground or an SUV. I searched everywhere for a low profile floor jack. I tried the Craftsman, the Lowes , harbor freight, brands and none of them were low enough to slide under my car then came across this one. I have had it for about 5 years and love it, I have used it on my car, and on my neighbors ford expedition and it raises his with out any problems. Broke after 1 year I thought I would pay a little extra to get a jack with good features that would last a while. I may have used it a dozen times over the past year with no issues. It sheared the shaft that pumps one of the pistons while jacking a small car. Just passed the 1 year warranty. Very disappointing. Not recommended. February 11, 2013

Had to get a replacement the next day, I bought the XL35 after reading all the reviews here.Went to NT and picked one up.Got it home,put it together,bled it and was instantly dissappointed.One of the pumps was not comming back up so there was a dead spot when lifting.It would then pop up and work for a few strokes then get stuck again.Took it back the next day and got a new one.The new on is working great..My only complaint is having that the first one was junk.This is NOT a portable jack.Don't by one if you plan on taking it places.Its way too heavy!
