"I have used this for a couple of years to pull my dock and swim float out of a lake onto the shore. The shore is about 4 feet above the water and the heaviest part is approx. 1000 lbs. With this I can haul them out single handed saving money each year instead of paying for a crew to pull them out."

"I used this to raise a 75# wind turbine on a 65' 4" diameter tower. I liked the way it worked and the quality of the manufacturing is very good. The 5/16 x 65' cable was adequate for my tower raising, but I want to find a shorter cable so I can use this in place of a come-along. The pull-up force required for my tower raising was 750#, and the hoist handled it with ease. I liked how it pulled in both directions of the stroke, and it was easy to change direction."

Great tool and sweet deal!,

"Light and great sized hoisting system made in China, perfect for an emergency kit for winter or ocasional use. The price is excellent - since something similar may cost you couple of times more.
After testing it in the field this winter - in real/harsh situation, I founded the included (65 FT of galvanized (!)) wire rope long enough and the tool easy to operate (pull AND release) under heavy loads.
I recovered a full size van with this tool (dragging it uphill about 10 yds) after his driver lost control and hit a metal fence smashing the front and one side of her van.
There is no question that I overloaded the tool doing this, but the tool performed over expectations.
One thing to notice: even IF the (easy to replace) safety pin is broken due to overloading, the grip hoist does not drop the load - will still hold it and the operator can use the release lever to disconnect the load or add / change accessories. I would reccomend to use this system for smaller loads (not full size vans) - for most cars will be just perfect: will not overload the tool and the effort to operate the hoist pulling the load will be smaller.
Keep in mind that whenever you want to use it, you will need an ANCHORING POINT! Learn how to make one if trees or heavy trucks are not available.
In order to make a versatile recovery kit, one needs more accessories for this system. With couple of shackles, towing straps, slings w. different kinds of hooks and (master)rings can help you to become self sufficient in any situation.
Adding Tackle Systems and Sn atch (this is not profanity WebMaster!) Blocks can increase the load capacity 2-4 times or more, also can change the direction of pulling - very important sometimes.
I love my wire rope puller, I keep it dry, I take care of it, lubricating the inner moving parts and the wire rope. I had a better understanding of the versatility of this tool only AFTER I did a research on Internet using search engines with key-words like: "rigging", "vehicle recovery", "hoisting", "towing", etc. The military technical manuals for Rigging and Vehicle Recovery are great.
