Worth Every Penny!,

"I re-powered an old Craftsman 21' lawn mower that I use as my trim machine when landscaping. Unlike the stock 6.75 Briggs & Stratton, The Honda GXV160 DOES NOT BOG DOWN especially when mowing high thick grass even when mulching! This engine has tons of torque! With the Briggs,I set the RPM's as high as the engine would go and it still bogged down. This Honda motor is quiet and super fuel efficient. I didn't even go through a 1/2 tank of gas and I mowed all day. HOW DOES BRIGGS & STRATTON EVEN COMPETE?

When re-powering your old lawn mower, keep in mind that you will need to install a new throttle cable and a new blade adapter & blade (A Snapper hub & Ninja Blade fits perfectly!) I am very ssatisfied with this engine and recommend it to repower old mowers or wherever vertical engines are needed."

Wrong Engine,

"Though the catalog says it is used for log splitters, it is not. The aluminum flywheel is not strong enough. The flywheel brake, choke and throttle controls are not conducive to a splitter. Am returning mine today."

first time every time,

"One of the finest engines I've ever used and above all the most dependable. It consistantly starts 1st time every time and if not, it's something I did (like swiping a bush and shifting the throttle so the choke wont engage. Smooth running, strong and efficient with low noise and currently having about 3000 hrs on a 'never opened' case speaks for itself. You'd simply have a tough time to find a better item. I should mention that I change the oil about 2x a season, so proper maintainance is required if you expect performance like mine."

"For years growing up I recall pull starting other manufacturer engines far too many times to start the job. Honda Engines are excellent quality. They start easily and run strong year after year. This particular engine I have had for years and it's still running strong."

"The pulley and blade hub can be purchased online or at any lawnshop that carries snapper parts. I believe the hub is #12927. Engine starts great first pull. We use this same engine for hydraulic rescue tools(jaws of life,etc..) very reliable."

"The Honda engine is good but Northern Tool doesn't offer the blade adapter which can be very hard to find unless your prior engine was the same one. Since Northern promotes the engine as a mower replacement engine it should also offer the blade adapter."
